Re: Road Geek Topics

Don't know if anyone's noticed, but the new lights on Crosstown from just beyond Cedar to almost Hiawatha are LED. Mn/DOT now has LEDs on their approved product list, (except for mast lights) and I get the idea all new projects will be LED. Also, they bought some to convert the Bloomington Ferry Br...

Re: Green Line (Central)

Is it possible that the catenary wiring is the least of the bottlenecks for overall construction left at this point? I can imagine other overhead work being done around stations (electronic signage, fiber, electric, etc.) may be be easier without tangling in overhead wires?

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

The parking on the east end of the jail block could support/could be made to support new vertical construction as well no? How about a dual building development on the west end of the park. Have a small building on the western most portion of 'the yard' and a larger tower above the parking across th...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

Most of the ramp, due to elevator shafts, the entrance(s), ventilation equipment, etc. is actually above grade. I was wondering why the Skyway jutting out South of the new ramp into the park was needed. Looks as though they would tie into the existing elevator/stairwell in the underground ramp. You...

Literally the next sentence in the article I linked
Honeywell and Safran believe this could amount to a four-percent fuel saving over the course of a year, also factoring in the effect the additional weight of the system has on planes' efficiency.

Cool news from an old MN company over the weekend: http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/22/4454560/honeywell-safran-electric-green-taxiing-system Drones weren't the only things on display at the Paris Air Show this week. As Wired reports, experimental electric motors were being demonstrated that would all...
