Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

I counted just now and got 40 with the base, maybe they are considering pushing it up to that next level. I mean, what's 4 more floors? ha

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Cool. The more I look at the second rendering (where they actually bothered with color)
Where is there a rendering with color? I see color in the plaza, but the tower is grey in everything I've seen.

EDIT: Fount it... http://www.startribune.com/local/minnea ... 63771.html

Re: Southside - General Topics

John Menard is an ass hole. Plain and simple. I'm from Eau Claire, which is where he lives and the company is based. He won't allow Home Depot, Lowe's, or any other competitor into the city or he threatens to pull the plug on the whole operation there and move it to another city. I'd say good riddan...

Re: 36th and Bryant Area

It's too bad really, I love a good mom and pop store. Sometimes I feel like you have to have money to make money here which doesn't leave room for the little guys. I try and support local when I can, but for me it's just way easier to go to cub (which I guess is local) or even drive out to Costco th...

Re: Stadium Village

I'm really starting to fall in love with this part of town and how dense it is getting. I wonder how completely annoying it would be to live over there as a real adult (non-student).

Re: Rampton Apartments - (201 2nd Avenue Southeast)

We may have discussed this before, but what is this giant parking lot in front and what are the odds of it being developed? Hopefully split up and developed and not one GIANT 6 story mega block. I know it's kind of getting into the neighborhood there, but it would be cool to see another 2 or three t...

A decent haircut starts at $60.
$60? You must have some beautiful hair ;-). I could never bring myself to pay $60 every 3-4 weeks when I can get the exact same cut for 20 or less.

Re: 36th and Bryant Area

Re: Barbers I went to Cheli when I first moved to the area in 2011. For whatever reason, wasn't thrilled about my 2nd or 3rd cut there and kept looking. Seems like everyone went to Cheli, I saw her at Fantastic Sam's before they closed on Lake street. Call me a snob, but I just couldn't get myself ...

Well, I just spoke with someone from my credit card company and she asked me, "Oh, Minnesota? Is that on the east coast?"

She lives in Nevada.

Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion

I don't actually pay it, but my roommate just sent our proof of insurance to the building and it looks like he's paying $334 a year, which is ridiculous if you ask me. When I had my apartment on Ridgewood I think I paid MAYBE $150.

Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park

I would love to see 15th/Nicollet, Ace/Family Dollar building and the empty lot kitty corner redeveloped to really kick start some action along Nicollet there. If both sides of the highway were activated into good use, I could see that as a really awesome place to live. Convenient to downtown and on...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

if you zoom in, it is clearly a parking ramp. See the ramp coming up to the top level and what would be the stairs and or elevator off to the front right corner of the structure.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

There's a better rendering here: https://imgur.com/80EWPE6 I kind of wonder if it's just there to block the parking ramp to make the site look prettier in the rendering. Earlier renders had those three residential-looking buildings right by the ramp. Now they're by this block thing. But there reall...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

Anyone notice the mural on the parking garage? I wonder if that's actually planned or if it's just to spiff up the rendering a bit. Looks nice and would be cool to have some giant public art there.

Mine like to run from room to room, particularly in the middle of the night :-/. We are in an 1100 sq ft 2 bedroom so it's not an issue now. Plan for the Fall when my car lease is up is to move either into a studio downtown or to Chicago if I can make that work (also likely a studio). Granted it wou...

I thought developers max out their parcels moreso to cover the fixed and variable overhead costs of the development, such as land and labor, respectfully. LMAO!! Yes, it's bad, but at the same time I always thought the "Stuart Little" house was pretty cool smooshed between two large build...
