Re: Downtown Office Market

Something that I need to address that I see (read) that is far too prevalent on this site this past year is the negativity and pessimism, before I give an example of a project nobody (on this site or anywhere) ever knew was planned except on a need-to-know basis. Particularly about development, bein...

Re: Downtown Office Market

@ Unity77, there are many intricate details in any project, especially large complex towers. It requires a great deal of time just to get from conceptual design to the final design, so the project isn't cost-prohibitive. Then a developer can approach possible tenants about leasing space. Now, there ...

Re: TCF Tower atrium

@ at40man, I would agree with you, the TCF atrium is under-utilized, needs some life to it. Perhaps the renovation will be when the block south of the Campbell Mithun tower gets developed, creating more traffic flow through the building. And @ Matt Steele, you mentioned a "1000-footer" in ...

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

We now live in a world where too many nearly demand "instantanous" responses & satisfaction. A person needs to realize the importance & necessity of silence & confidentiality concerning development of projects. (Only a handful of people were aware of the 4Marq project before th...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

When I talked to Brian Gordon (Project Manager) a few months back, Magellan wanted to have a webcam on the nearby school. I'm sure the school district would've had to approve it. Perhaps, they're going to wait till spring to install it, if it was approved. Otherwise, I'm sure they'll try to find ano...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Concerning the webcam for the Loring Park tower, I just called and talked to Brian Gordon (Project Manager) about having a webcam. They're actually working on that at this time. So, I suspect before long, they'll have a webcam for all of us to view the progress.

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)

I just had a discussion (a few minutes ago) with a project manager at Opus about the Nicollet Residence tower. The manager told me the timeline is to apply for the Demolition Permit next week, clear the site and actual construction should begin the 1st week in December. It appears they have a restau...

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I completely understand ones frustration of not having 1368 under-construction by now, however, I wouldn't give up on the project either. Financing now isn't like it was 10 yrs. ago. Not even close. When this project was first announced, I was enthused about it like most of us were. When the project...

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

The "basic structure" of the financing is in place for this project and has been since a week ago Monday. There are a few "relatively minor" details to be worked out yet. With that said, I'm confident this project will proceed and an announcement will be made fairly soon (coming ...

Re: Happy Hour

This would be a very entertaining event to attend, however, I have some physical limitations (severe back ailment) at the moment that will prohibit me from the event. I would very much be interested in attending such an event in the months ahead. Hopefully, these types of events happen from time-to-...

Re: 330 South 12th

I know of no less than 4 "major" developers that have a great deal of interest in that particular site for a major convention hotel. And yes, all the conceptual designs of a hotel are of "significant" height at that location. With the requirements that the city has for a conventi...

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I'm confident this project is a "go", as well. I've actually discussed a few things with Magellan concerning this project over the past 6-8 months. They've said all along it is going to be built. I don't believe it is prudent or proper for me to write what specifics I had discussed with Ma...

Re: Dock Street Apartments

I'm not well-acquainted with the Dock Street project at all. However, I stumbled upon some conceptual designs from the Pickard Chilton website of the Hines project in the North Loop. Which I believe is part of the Interchange/Dock Street proposal. (Please correct me if I'm mistaken.). If this is an ...

Re: IDS Center

Interesting read, it doesn't surprise me that the IDS Center is up for sale and that Class A office space along the Nicollet Mall has a low vacancy rate. What I did find the most interesting in the article is that Carlson Companies have their Corporate HQ and Plaza 7 up for sale. Now, they just migh...

Re: Westminister Church Parking Lot

I have a difficult time believing that Westminster will not try to do everything that it can to help those displaced by the move. That's a very compassionate church, very involved in the community. I believe that church is involved with other churches to help provide affordable housing for the needy...

Thank you Avian for posting those comparable pics. What a difference 36 years of progress has made. I would like to think, all for the better, as well. I highly suspect that view will dramatically change in the next 15 years. Downtown is poised to see multiple mid-rise and skyscrapers built by then....

Since there's a thread for discussion about our skyway system. Let me ask this very talented, knowledgeable & imaginative membership of urbanmsp a question. If you had an opportunity to have a 15-minute meeting with a developer who was planning a tower(s) in the downtown core of Minneapolis. Wha...
