Re: Rumors!
I left because the snark here was too high. I actually didn't feel like the discussion EVER stayed on topic of what the title was. Grant, respectfully, the snark level here isn't any higher than it is at SSC. It is just coming from people who do not necessarily agree with you, so it is *perceptibly...

Re: Rumors!
That may be true, but TexasRE's photo seems to be a professional photo (unlike so many other's on LinkedIn that have endorsed her), and when I pulled her up on LinkedIn she has no photo at all. So she ONLY did a professional photo for the SSC website and NOT on a site actually designed to promote y...

Re: Rumors!
It's because the moderation there is part of the problem, not part of the solution. They've been duped into what amounts to a totally irrelevant, non-development related discussion there by TexasRE for the better part of the past year, and mods are siding with the dupers, not the posters that have b...

Re: Hennepin Avenue (Downtown)
There was a gentleman playing banjo in that "park" during Northern Spark. Nobody else was with him there, until a few friends and I stopped to listen. After we stopped, a small crowd began to gather. So, maybe this park will thrive off of groupthink? Or better advertising?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I was pretty disappointed with the signalling issue, as well, as I thought that was going to be normal, had been under the impression that the line would have some sort of nominative ROW, and had wondered if I had missed something big. I'm glad to hear that this seems to be a last-minute technical g...

Re: Public Schools
^^^Right, thanks for the explanation. It was a big time cost saving maneuver, to say the least. Humboldt and Arlington were always sort of "dumping ground" schools for kids/parents that didn't make a decision, back when the district would still bus you anywhere. We have that same issue in ...

Re: Public Schools
The apartment boom is full of millenials and empty nesters. When focusing on the millenials, the question is will they stay when they have kids? Public schools/ charter/ or special qualifying schools (?) like the International schools are very important. When do you think Minneapolis will put more ...

Re: Northstar
To be fair, is it really any less pointless to go all the way to St. Cloud than it is just going to Big Lake, now?So Brent can get from his cabin in St Cloud to his office in the IDS?

Re: City Place Lofts - (730 Hennepin Avenue)
It's too bad the income limits are so low. It would be better if places like this had a mix of units for 30% AMI, 50%AMI, etc. so that we weren't repeating past mistakes of filling buildings exclusively with poor people. Granted this particular building will bring some balance to the generally high...

Re: Forum Etiquette
David, maybe I should clarify that I don't mean any animosity by that statement, and I'm sure that my opinions would be welcomed, respected, and not repressed. It's just a time thing: posting something long about my opinions on this-or-that takes some energy and effort, and it's not really why I com...

Re: Forum Etiquette
I can take personal responsibility for that. I *don't* post here very often, so it is short-sighted for me to assume that others will "get" my sarcasm in text. That being said, as somebody who reads a lot, but only posts occasionally, the updates on actual projects are very much appreciate...

^^^Sorry, don't leave! I should have used a sarcasm smile, although I thought my sarcasm was inferred. Mea culpa. I'm actually about as indifferent on Rybak as you can get. And I also don't see how the comments that initially derailed the thread can be called political. More....philosophical? My mai...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I see three new pages in this thread and excitedly open it, expecting some updates. Instead, it is a three page debate over the semantics of "yard." You guys are right. Rybak is an abhorrent human being. So glad he's out soon. Now, I think anybody participating in this tete-a-tete has offi...

Re: Twin Cities Ammunition Plant (Arden Hills)
I'm all for denser suburban development, and I'm all for any development at this site. I don't know about your 5-10 year forecast....I would think that after the homes are constructed, they would be looking to have them on market for no more than a year. Unless they build in phases (entirely possibl...

Outcast,
Essentially, yes. The developer can obviously mitigate any other infrastructural strain on their own, but they're not going to build a new elementary school on-site...

Re: Twin Cities Ammunition Plant (Arden Hills)
Did a little google searching: http://www.twincities.com/localnews/ci_22073844/ramsey-county-buys-former-ammunition-plant-hopes-attracting "Cleanup costs and the national economic slump prompted a local developer, the Ryan Cos., to walk away from a proposed $850 million mixed-use development in...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
One thing that those maps could indicate is that whereas *some* systems truly are built for tourists and occasional trips, ours is designed more with the daily commuter in mind. Compare us to Toronto, especially. Their system appears to be clustered very densely around the core-- Toronto is a geogra...
