You're right. That should have been in the stadium thread.

I'm just so annoyed by all this. 2 crashes and plenty of bad press from both the strib and mpr.
Crashes happen. People need to be more aware of their surroundings. Frankly, I'm getting a bit tired of all the MPR bashing.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)

Your right, I meant west. But when I was typing, I was thinking about the excavation progress on the east block. I should pay more attention.

The bases of two tower cranes are in place on the eastern block of the wells fargo site.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development

Looking at the construction cam, I can't help but notice that they've poured a concrete wall surrounding the base of one of the tower cranes. I'm guessing that eventually this will be an elevator shaft?

Re: Zip Rail to Rochester

It seems to me some other data would be useful, if available. For one, a histogram-type map showing density of automobile commuters from various cities along the possible routes It doesn't really sound like they are planning to have any stops between Rochester and St. Paul/MSP, so that sort of data...

We're nowhere near having having computers that can evaluate a situation and make a moral judgement of the type that the article discusses. About the best we can do right now is "avoid crashing into things", and if that appears impossible "avoid crashing into things that look human&qu...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

What I also want to know is what the test train experience was like for MPR. I am seeing a lot of test trains stopping at stations for far longer than it would it would ever take to pick up passengers as the instructor is talking to the operator, pointing things out, etc etc. If MPR was on any of t...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Holy cow people. The line is still in testing, and they are still tweaking timing. It's way too early to be freaking out about travel time. If it's still way off of predictions at the time the line actually opens, that would be a different matter. Calm down and give them a chance to work on it.

The thing about Wal-mart is that the prices aren't the only things that are cheap. Wal-mart pushes the manufacturers so hard for lower prices that they often produce cheaper (poorer quality) versions of their products specifically for walmart. If you check the model numbers, you'll often find they a...

lake and Nicollet could better support, and be more central, a larger theatre... there will be plenty of full blocks to develop. I love when cool buildings are kind of a secret and you need to walk around to get the full affect , that's what make fun cities fun. [grammar nazi] you meant "effec...

I have been on several trains over the years where the engineer actually does change the station announcements manually from their area, jumping through several station announcements to get it to the correct one. So I know it can be done. If they are capable of adjusting the station announcement, t...

Come on guys, the canopy is a decorative element. There are actual human-scaled shelters with (partial) protection from the elements underneath it. Do you really think a canopy that high up would provide any protection whatsoever from wind, sideways rain/snow, etc.? See photos: https://forum.street...

If Code42 does bring more than 1,000 workers into Uptown, I wonder what some of the ripple impacts (positive or negative) will be from this project on things like parking, restaurants, retail, housing, hotels, transit, office market, etc. Thoughts? Well, dropping in a few hundred software engineers...

E) a giant "canopy" with no weather protection
From the looks of it, it wouldn't be very difficult to add a plexiglass roof to the "canopy". I'd wager that will happen at some point (once enough people complain).
