Either way, they can afford it. Target owns most of their real estate, City Center was an anomaly. It was also disconnected by a couple of blocks from their other buildings. How do we know for sure they will keep paying the lease? Maybe they can pay a fee to break it early.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The owner of the Northstar Center is having the place subdivided into separate tracts. It would be great to see some sort of redevelopment or at minimum repurposing of this block. </wishful thinking> https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/download/Agenda/775/RPT-PLAN11079-North%20Star%20Center.pdf/45686/174...

Lake and Fremont - 15 stories
Sounds like the dirt lot at Lake/Fremont is about to be a thing of the past. Agenda for the upcoming meeting on July 1: "Local Ventures development group and BKV Architecture will present plans for a mixed-use project at 1301 and 1409 W. Lake Street in front of the Calhoun square parking ramp. ...

Re: Duffey 2.0 - 3rd St N
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the plans for the new building (246 7th Ave) sure look like it's going to be a grocery store. There's separate parking access and ~18,000 sqft. My question is which one? Aldi? Cub? another Lund's? or maybe the first small-scale Hy-Vee?

Re: RE: Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin
Care to elaborate? Are they planning some form of retail large enough it requires semi parking/loading?Looks like they're planning on keeping the semi trucks pulling a 90° back in from Lyndale feature. Early stages but not a fan of this

Maybe we'll get lucky and the yet to be announced retailer at City Center is an Apple store.
Pure "wouldn't it be nice" speculation.

Re: City Center
Official announcement of the renovation , with a teaser that they'll be announcing three new tenants for that corner in the coming weeks. Disappointed to see it's only the corner, not the whole Nicollet side. While the rendering of the corner looks promising, it sure mismatches the rest of the faca...

This project got out of the ground but hasn't seen much work in the past couple of months. Is there something delaying the work?

http://www.startribune.com/downtown-minneapolis-may-get-a-new-fire-station-as-developer-remakes-block-with-apartments-ramp/512441262/ Sounds like this is close to moving forward, however no mention of the 22 story tower, only a 6 floor affordable housing component and a parking ramp. I don't think that's a cutaway view and they're probably planning a glass wall.

Re: Gaviidae Common / Downtown YMCA
I love the first-floor space as well. There will be classes in the first level space in addition to one on one sessions with personal trainers. Access is limited at this time because they don't want anyone down there when it's unstaffed. If something bad happened - think injury/medical episode - it ...

It doesn't say much more than stating they have an option on the half block to the north, which they are currently using for construction staging.

I also noted the presence of a pharmacy in the plans - which helps to narrow who it might be a bit. Hy-Vee is also looking to open 25 stores by 2020.

Re: Longfellow "Town Square" / Oppidan Project
I'm going to wager that Hy-Vee could very well be the grocery store. They just opened one in downtown Des Moines that's 35,000 sq feet in a similar development. A lot of their stores are 80,000+ sq feet and if they want to get into the city of Minneapolis, they'll have to go smaller. Des Moines proj...

Very unlikely. You're looking at an initial sketch, not a submission to the city planners.
