Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News

The Wal-Mart has been open for a while. Not sure if it has spurred any other retail/restaurant development. http://goo.gl/maps/mswy1 My greatest concern about the redevelopment plan is that Wal-Mart will eventually put the Sears out of business. Sears owns their land, and opted to stay in place whi...

I think 7 Corners is also getting some sort of improvement from this, but maybe not the green line.
I almost got hit by a car on Wednesday at 7 Corners!

Re: Target Center Renovation

Nice to see the cost coming down, but hopefully that isn't sacrificing quality. Rybak makes it sound like the initial cost was a number they just threw out there. I went to the exhibition game last Saturday. They've redone the concession stands with some fake brick facing. It looks lame. They did fi...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Pizza La Vista closed like a month after they opened for "renovation". I'm not sure I'd build a 'business is down' story around them.

Also, actual attendance at games is down. I guess channel 5 forgot to check on that.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)

Are they ever going to get NexTrip on these things?
Don't see the point. Trains (generally) run on time- IIRC, exceptions are listed on station marquees
It would be helpful during events when they have all trains running or weather delays. And of course downtown when the green line gets going.

Re: Block E

September 23rd is the last day for the theater according to the Strib. The curtains will close at Block E's movie theater later this month, leaving downtown without a movie theater for the first time since 2002. An AMC Theaters spokesman, Ryan Noonan, said Wednesday that the 15-screen theater will c...

Somehow it's not looking nearly as cheesy as I thought it was going to!
It does. I wish I had a photo of this one's progress. I'm not a fan.
