This thing had hearts all over it for Valentine's, and the IDS was red. It was kind of weird.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

As much as I would love to see both the Nicollet and Midtown streetcars built, I'd rather see the bus lines reorganized. They are a mess. I've had the "Oh crap what bus am I on?" moment many times on buses. That shouldn't happen to anyone, especially people who live here. I can't imagine b...

Whole lotta info:

EDIT: The street level massing on this is actually pretty nice. Broken up well, with some interesting outdoor patio spaces!

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

In winter, vehicles typically get stuck on the sides of the road, not middle. Furthermore, the frequency, size, and low ground clearance of streetcars would likely minimize the amount of snow on the area of the street over which it runs, making it less likely that autos in front of the trams would b...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

Buses have had over fifty years to prove that they're better than the trolleys we traded for them, and I can't think of a single instance where someone has looked at a photo of an old TCRT car and said, "Sure glad we got rid of those!" They're better for tourism, the environment, and devel...

Re: StoneBridge (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)

It must take quite a bit of confidence to buy a residence that:
A. You have never seen, because
B. It doesn't exist yet.

Regardless, great news.

Re: Vikings Stadium

It sounds like that plan is more related to the mysterious Ryan project than it is to the stadium itself, though I might be reading that wrong?

Either way, this is the dumbest piece of shit idea of any kind in recent memory. And yes, it merits that language.

Barricades and fencing have started going up outside the older part of the building. Looks like Mortenson is doing this. Excited to see how this turns out.

Re: Green Line (Central)

Sorry if this is a "comes in at the end of a huge conversation asking questions that have already been answered" type post, but if the cars are already arriving and being tested/put into service, why do we need to test the line for a year before it opens for revenue service? Is that reall...

Re: Hennepin Avenue

I think it's awesome. I'd ride the shit out of that thing. Season pass, here I come. While it would probably be cool (in agreement on that point) I have a really hard time seeing the financial justifications for building this, especially given that they'll have to sell the public on it. Also not to...

Re: Loring Vue Apartments - (415 Oak Grove Street)

The accents are coming- if you look closely in the most recent pictures, you can see small hook-like protrusions form the building in the area where they will be going.

Re: Hennepin Avenue

Did anyone else completely miss the aerial tram coming out of the post office? I did until just now. They looked like little flying taxis at first. But no, totally a tram with no visible support system. I saw it, but I didn't want to dignify it with my attention, as it is both: A.) Weird. B.) Never...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

Something that I'm surprised has not come up yet is how this project relates to the request for funds to "rebuild Nicollet Mall." If their plan is actually to remove bus traffic and create a single-grade surface with just streetcars running down the center, it seems as though any renovatio...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

There's a sign up on LaSalle indicating that the segment of the street adjacent to this project will be closing on the 16th. It does not specify a re-opening date. Should be interesting to see what this is for, given that the crane is already up.
