Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
Having been in the Operations Center a couple times (decades ago at this point) I can say the basement levels are absolutely much larger than what you see above ground. Neat tool, and nice work!
I took a crack at one as well. Not quite as aesthetically pleasant, but I'm happy with how tight I was able to get the population deviations, while also trying to keep people in their existing wards. https://districtr.org/plan/57170

So, what's up with the footprint of this thing? Every building other than the Subway/TCF (former Hollywood Video) has been cleared, but the Subway and TCF are still open? Is this getting done is phases?

This appeared to be very much under construction last week. Lots of major excavation right up against the existing tower.

Re: 420 E Hennepin Ave
There are jersey barriers up onsite and traffic lanes have been reconfigured with paint included, so guessing we are going to see construction immediately following demo. Utility contractors and equipment onsite as well now.

Re: 420 E Hennepin Ave
Lanes of traffic were blocked off this morning on both Hennepin and Central adjacent to the property.
I will miss the Central facade of the building and the angled alleyway. It played well off its neighbors.

Parking lot on site is closed off. Really hope we're not getting a demo with no project afterward now.

Work on this has begun. Looks like renovations on existing structure at the moment. No demolition or excavation so far.

Re: Malcolm Yards Phase One (food hall, apartment buildings, grocery store)
The walls were brought down to roughly the point they're currently at a number of months ago. Guessing some of the material at the top damaged by fire was just too far gone to safely leave in place.

Bachelor Farmer must have been going under before all this. Their family is worth almost $2B. They could have saved it if they wanted to.
Still a shame.

The houses in question are all in a very small stretch, between 27th and Lake. Could still fully close the rest.

Why is West River Parkway open to vehicles at all? It doesn't provide access to anything that other roads don't. Just close it all.
