There's also an allusion to a future MSP-Istanbul route by Turkish Airlines, which has been teased a few times and would be a huge get for service to eastern Europe and beyond.
While Copenhagen would be nice, northern Europe is already pretty well covered with Amsterdam and Frankfurt service.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
The cost for demolition for these buildings is going to be a much bigger number than people anticipate. In this market, I just really can't imagine somebody purchasing with the intent to demolish.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
These really are the worst buildings downtown, aren't they? While the devaluation clearly isn't great for property taxes, I don't think you can really draw much of a trendline off of this particularly bad asset. It will be interesting to see if this very low purchase price allows them to offer barga...

The new fat tower getting built at 27th and University is requesting signage at the top of the building, which... why? I hope that this doesn't get approved.

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
I'll just toss in again that many other cities are able to get some extra benefit from their arenas by locating them close to their convention centers -- allowing them to host very large events supported by the exhibition space, etc. There isn't an obvious site near the convention to make this happe...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
It's too bad that there's not really any particular champion for the transit system at present. Clowning on McLaughlin et al on Twitter a decade ago was fun (how embarrassing!) but at the moment I can't really think of anyone prominent in charge of anything who cares about how stuff is going. I did...

The last sentence of the article does say that MNDOT is "ready to work with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to study Borealis frequency and extending the current line to Minneapolis."
Whatever that means.

Re: Bloomington - General Topics
There's a huge grade difference between the tunnel portal and Knox. You need the length to get back up to grade. And that extra length, with absolutely no interfering traffic, adds essentially no time to the route.

Re: Bloomington - General Topics
That's a fair question! Maybe because the financing for a purpose built store is different than a speculative apartment building?

Re: Nicollet Mall
My vote is for 3rd Avenue. I understand it's a couple blocks removed from the heart of the CBD, but A) I'd argue that matters less than it used to as WFH has increased and B) I think it would be great to have services enter and exit downtown without having to make any turns (i.e., enter from the so...

Re: Nicollet Mall
Yes, that's what I'd propose. So, both Marquette and 2nd would have a bus lane in each direction by the curbs, and then two one-way traffic lanes between them, NB on Marquette and SB on 2nd (or vice versa)?

I'm not a real estate guy, but I'd have to guess that building a big apartment building is more lucrative than building a big box. It's probably also more difficult, and more risky, etc. But I do believe that it's in KA's interest to pursue higher density development, not because they believe in urb...

Did we collectively decide that contra flow bus lanes are bad at some point? If so, why?
I think Option 2, but with one way traffic for automobiles, would be a better solution, and allow for decent left hand turn movements.

Re: Nicollet Mall
I know different people use downtown for different reasons, but to me, the Third Avenue alignment feels so far removed form the major entertainment drivers (Hennepin Ave Theaters, Warehouse District, Target Center, Target Field). My preference would be local service on Marquette.
