Re: Cambria / Fairfield Hotels - 41 10th Street N (former Ramada block)

That’s unfortunate. I was hoping this was dead so that we could get something more substantial on this block.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Looks like the North Loop is starting to hit its stride. Hopefully more boutique and home grown brands will be able to make a name for themselves along side these new major retailers coming into the area. It’s that sort of mix that’ll keep the area fresh.

Where is that bear sculpture?
Fairly sure the bear is peering into Denver’s convention center.

Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland - 16 stories - 180'

BizJournals confirms it . (unlocked) Note that, like Rafter on the other side of the river, they've got to get the new WF branch built and opened before starting the tower, so that doesn't start until next spring. How do we think the ban on new drive-thru buildings would affect future projects like...

Niiiiice! Love those small retail spaces. This one keeps getting better.

Re: Nicollet 301 - 20 stories - ~200'(?)

Yikes, not a fan. Instead of building 2 or three unique, and well crafted buildings on the block they decided to smash them all into one. Bold move Opus. At least they aren’t going all out on precast.

Re: California Street Silos

Yes to townhomes! Especially ones that have a nice amount of variety and present themselves as individual buildings. This project will blend nicely with the small detached homes in this pocket while adding a lot of density.

What a lost opportunity. Wonder if those new apartments will be surrounded by a sea of parking too?

Re: Iron Store - 528 Washington Ave N

Walk-up units and parking for 508 Washington is kind of offensive. This blocks needs a dash of active frontage. Lobbies are not active frontage unless you count double-parked UPS trucks in the bike lane as active. Also, who wants a ground level unit directly facing Washington Ave? Retail would have...

Re: 501 7th St S

This thing is giving me serious uncanny valley vibes. It's like a parking garage is trying its hardest to be an apartment building, but just can't quite get over the hump. Was just going to comment the same as others about this looking like a parking ramp with windows. This is a really mediocre pro...

Re: 800 Washington Ave S (Guthrie Ramp liner development: Reloaded)

Not that it's a make or break factor, but I'm puzzled at the comments saying the trees on the AECOM project won't survive. LPM and Nic on 5th are both supporting 2+ story trees on their roof decks. As long as the right cultivars are selected and proper measures are taken to enable their success, I d...

Re: 800 Washington Ave S (Guthrie Ramp liner development: Reloaded)

I'm only able to see the Sherman and AECOM (D/O) projects, but I'm already in the AECOM camp here. Something like this is needed to set the bar higher for residential projects in Minneapolis. I hope it's selected and successful.

Re: Arby’s Island

If this remains a single retail space but they're increasing it to 9,000 square feet, it seems kind of unlikely that it would be an Arby's or really any fast food restaurant unless it's going to be a really big one. The average Arby's is apparently 3,000 square feet (based on what I could find onli...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

WHY is it so disjointed? What am I supposed to be looking at? There's no sense to this. Why is it floating? This thing is all sorts of strange, and not in the good ways.. Agree. Also, why would they place a garage entrance on the most prominent corner. They're really missing an opportunity to do so...
