Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
With current gas prices and the recent fare increase it has become a wash for me financially for bus vs. car commuting to work. Since parking at work is "free" for me I have been thinking hard about giving up my monthly pass. Top it off with route 2's completely unreliable evening rush hou...

Re: Homeless tent city along the Hiawatha Bike Trail?
None of this will make a dent in the camp OP is talking about, they'd much prefer to shoot up in that camp vs. crystal court..
Maybe someone can donate some air mattresses to David Greene and they can crash in his living room??
BTW, there's been people camping in that vicinity for at least 30 years.

It's a disaster, I've abandoned my usual 2>67 for the 18>Greenline for my work commutes as of this week.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Monday's Transportation Committee meeting has an update about the fare increase. Apparently a policy study was conducted a few years ago, which suggested a simpler fare system by eliminating peak fares, all day reduced fares, local fares for reverse commute express buses, low income discounts, modi...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I dunno, the majority of drivers I've asked (that responded to me) agreed with me about the old one. Probably right about (union) labor costs though, I guess I should read into the "equipment costs" so literally. Politically it's a non-starter anyways because we all know what would happen ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I got a response on my idea! Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion of adding card validators on buses for customers boarding and exiting both doors. We do have this feature on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). Unfortunately, at this time, we are not able to add this feature for our regular b...

Anyone have these? I'm almost tempted, just because I'm so curious to see what a $90 pillow looks like.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Always thought Nicollet Mall was overrated myself, can't think of one building along that stretch that isn't a complete disaster as far as street face/walkablity. There's no way the finished product will be worth the wait on this one, sounds like the construction unions are milking this one for all...

Caught it a couple weeks ago, I got a "Better Call Saul" vibe from him, wonder how much he paid his kids to show up for filming.

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
That plaza looks fine to me, how old is it's current design? I know this wasn't park board money but it's a perfect example of what Nekima et al. were talking about. Hope they're using convention center profits to fund this, oh wait.. Is there a convention center thread on here? Or maybe a thread ab...

Re: City living trends and predictions
Didn't you know there are only two generations/cohorts? Boomers and Millennials; no other groups exist. Or at least that's what media tell me. So the 48 yr old guy I work with that barely knows how to turn on his computer is a millennial or a boomer now? Actually, the Boomer generation has a lot of...

Re: City living trends and predictions
"Over the past decade, many American cities have been transformed by young professionals of the millennial generation, with downtowns turning into bustling neighborhoods full of new apartments and pricey coffee bars." Hm. Maybe my viewpoint over-weights DC and, to a lesser extent, Minneap...

Re: Minneapolis 311
One of my favorite pastimes is reporting "abandoned vehicles" that I notice near my apartment. I've gotten a couple towed but sometimes they stick a warning letter under the wipers and the owner usually moves it immediately, then I have to wait 3 more days before I report them again... I'v...

Last time I got a pizza from there it was garbage compared to what they used to be.
IMHO if you're gonna offer jalapenos as a topping they should be fresh ones, not the kind from a jar.
