Re: Former Macy's Site
3 million for a prime piece of downtown on light rail seems fair. The port authority will maintain the property until a viable reuse or bold new development emerges. Give it time.

Re: Empire Builder
The Empire Builder schedule is a complete mess. Eastbound EB on 12-11-13 was about 9 hours late. Now this.. http://kfgo.com/news/articles/2013/dec/11/heavy-rail-traffic-grinds-amtrak-to-temporary-halt/ The freight traffic (and delays) thru Montana and ND will not be going away anytime soon. The time...

Re: Downtown St Paul airport
The main charter terminal is located on Eaton street(south side). This is where the majority of the new hangers are and where St Paul flight center operates. The clasic old terminal(administration building) houses airport operations is located on Bayfield. This use to be the main terminal for arriva...

Re: St. Paul Palace Theater renovation
Back in the early 80"s they use to have laser light shows in the Orpheum. There where a couple of record/head shops next to it. Three Acre Woods? St Paul Companies eyed this property at one time if I recall. Glad its still around.

Re: Saint Paul Union Depot
Some of the chatter on AMTRAK UNLIMITED has a potential DEC 7th as the start of service out of SPUD. The EB eastbound #8 has been running late all summer and fall do to rail upgrades and heavy freight. Noticed a significant amount of consists of oil cars this past year on the BN tracks. There's only...

Demolition news on the vacant Ramsey County property along Kellogg. Really nothing worth saving here and might generate some new ideas on its future use.

For the first time in about 20 years we have windows in the Lowry at 4th and Wabasha. The boarded up windows were quite the eysore for such a prominent corner. Glad to see the ornamental lighting back on the building. Now they need a tenant. http://www.twincities.com/stpaul/ci_23964841/st-pauls-lowr...

Re: Lost Project
The biggest mistake the City of St Paul made was allowing 7th street to be closed thru Downtown. It totally disrupted traffic flow thru DT. Before Town Square was built the southern half 7th between Minneaota and Cedar was dubbed the "superhole" for years and was a source of civic embarras...

Checking the web cam for this site - this project is really moving along. The weather the past month may have had something to do with it. Should top out by the end of the year. The concrete pumps on these projects(like 432 Park in NYC) are time savers.

This along with West Academic coming DT certainly has to have officials breathing easier after a tough Spring with Macy's and the LT Stadium surprises.
