Re: Nicollet Mall

I wonder how much a true north-south transit tunnel would have cost when Nicollet already got a utilities-up reconstruction. I dreamed.

Re: Nicollet Mall

So why is this under serious consideration now but was not a decade ago when the state and city spent $5 million per block to rebuilt Nicollet?

Re: 2025-2026 Minnesota Legislature

If DFL were the adults in the room they wouldn't have nominated someone who wasn't a resident to run for a seat, and they wouldn't have held a private, secret swearing-in ceremony before the legally appointed time, and they would have shown up for work yesterday. Both parties are failing to be ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

It looks like the line could easily be extended onto Technology Dr towards Mitchell.
Which reminds me of a map I posted on here over a decade ago, where Green Line would extend west to the HCRRA / SW Regional Trail corridor (sorry, Bearpath) with a stop at Great Plains/101 and a split to dual ...

In general, we need to have much higher expectations for how people behave in public and we need mechanisms to enforce those norms and expectations.

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

I was thinking something more like (in addition to C Line on Cedar)...
- Reroute 515 to Blue Line at 46th St, taking over the portion of the 7 south of that station through Nokomis East. (I was always very curious about how many people ride the 7 across the Blue Line towards West Bank/Downtown vs ...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

With all the recent success of ABRT, it's time to bring back the push to extend the C Line down Cedar. C is for Cedar.
This would take the line from its current terminus near Elliot Park to the Mall of America.
- From its current terminus to Cedar, Hiawatha Ave and its ramps would be the fastest ...

Re: MN-121 "Lyndale Connector" Turnback and Redevelopment

Another concept, if Bachmann's ever shrank their footprint:
* Curve the 121 ramps east through part of the Bachmann's property to Lyndale, around 60th St.
* Rebuild 60th St as a 2 lane parkway from Lyndale east to Nicollet.
* At Nicollet, you could go south of Richfield Lutheran and do a sort of ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

I've probably shared it before, but another thing that would make St. Cloud successful is if it hopped the river to stop closer to the population centers in the region. It could stop at the existing Link station on the south side of St. Cloud, then cross the rail bridge and stop in Downtown St ...

I continue to say the trainsets should be repurposed for regional service. Extend to St. Cloud. Through-route to Mankato or Eau Claire. IDK, just get those trainsets used more.

I know railroads might be a unique beast, but the idea of nationalizing private property under any circumstance can't be expected to be common sense for a large portion of the country.
