@twincitizen brought up the prospects of this shutting down due to continued underperformance and legislative bargaining this year. Has anyone seen any good info on the following?

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar
Presumably, that's the reason. Which is unfortunate because the area between 35E and Sibley Plaza is the area with the least likelihood for traffic congestion for buses.
But, to be less cynical, one large benefit is that it better serves the neighborhood south of W 7th which hugs the bluff on the ...

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar
The proposed bus access changes around the 34th/494 interchange are interesting.
Interesting that the reconfiguration of this interchange to a DDI with LRT in the middle not only made LRT service less reliable than before, apparently it failed to create positive conditions for the 54 as well ...

Re: Federal Building & Post Office redevelopment speculation
Hey that's not as much as Wells Fargo sunk into the old Honeywell HQ / WF HMMC campus in the last 25 years, and now that's a sunk cost with much of the site likely to get redeveloped.

Re: Transit Crime
I hope someday once again the train will be safe enough for me to take my kids on a ride. They'd love it. I used transit all the time in the Before [2020] Times, and a few times since. At this point I'm not comfortable taking my family on the train.

Re: Amtrak: Long-distance trains
MSP to DEN via Sioux Falls or Omaha - mostly a boring drive across prairie - sounds perfect for a night train if it could make the trip in 12-14 hours.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
What would it take to rehab these trainsets for more regional use, maybe operated by Amtrak? Rehab existing coaches with better seating? Maybe one upstairs on each trainset could be a cafe/lounge? Maybe others as business class?

What's the appeal of HAWKs over RRFBs? RRFBs seem to garner high compliance, and pair well with median-refuged crossings. I'm not a HAWK fan.

With the "Northstar Reimagined" or Borealis extension options, they should really consider infill stops at Little Falls, Wadena, Perham etc.

Re: Gold Line BRT - Woodbury to St. Paul (3/22/2025) and Minneapolis (2027)
Curious what the risk is of the Mpls extension being successful, but the entire service getting lower frequencies due to low ridership. IMO this is why it might not hurt to have an overlay branding for the downtown to downtown segment. That way a future Purple Line or even an ABRT line could pick up ...

I wonder how much a true north-south transit tunnel would have cost when Nicollet already got a utilities-up reconstruction. I dreamed.

If DFL were the adults in the room they wouldn't have nominated someone who wasn't a resident to run for a seat, and they wouldn't have held a private, secret swearing-in ceremony before the legally appointed time, and they would have shown up for work yesterday. Both parties are failing to be ...
