Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)

I'm get concerned from posters here who just want to raise heights near the lake...why? What is this obsession with density on Lake Street near Lake Calhoun? We seem to want to build bigger without any concern with the historic nature of some areas. Lake and James is a low height area. Four stories ...

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis

It would be a win for the city that current Minneapolis residents would not have to drive to SLP, when we can now keep our dollars in Minneapolis. Count me in as TJ shopper who also frequents Lunds and The Wedge, there are many of us. I went to the SLP store a few days after it opened back in the mi...

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis

Trader Joe's has a rabid and loyal following. Shoppers came in from EVERYWHERE EVERY WEEK when they opened their SLP store. It was their highest revenue store in the nation for quite some time. Scores and score of people all over the metro went there. Another large target audience are folks from Eur...

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis

This Trader Joes' will serve more than just downtown, but also the customers who live in Nordeast, Southwest, Uptown, Longfellow, Northside, U of M , and other Mpls locations, and first ring suburbs too. I bet this will be their biggest store in Minnesota. Sorry, but to think they will hide it away ...

Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)

I am not convinced that tearing down two older homes and replacing them with 4 condos improves density. It also replaces area businesses that serve the area residents. The boutique space that will come in it's place will attract boutique businesses looking for status Uptown location and zip code...a...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Healy Group is making a last desperate effort that will probably be dismissed by the judge as a nuisance lawsuit. It's obvious that the Healy Group is all about the "all or nothing" mentality, true believers who cannot differentiate between what is authentic and what is a shell of the past...

Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)

I take exception to the idea that it's an "improvement to what's already there". Several older three story homes used as businesses in a predominantly residential mixed use area. I don't see the case for improving this. These types of properties are what make Uptown unique. I lived on Jame...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

I would have to say the unwillingness to comprise and the absolutist attitudes is disturbing. Reminds me of the government shutdown crazies who took everything to the brink and discredited themselves.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

I find it amusing that someone was accused of being a "Whittier resident" all the while Anders Christiansen from Kingfield was in attendance leading the brigade.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Candle light vigil over a freekin house? I'm from San Francisco and even this would be seen as wacky! These folks are clearly having some kind of religious experience with Saint TP Healy.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

I am all in favor of preservation and design standards, and I love the TP Healy homes just as much as anyone. But this particular house is not one that even comes close to the other Healy homes in it's design integrity. Most of it has already been burned, replaced and modified. It does not carry the...

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

Unfortunately some people when they come to public meetings come to complain about all the other issues going on. One man kept interrupting and insisted that we need to get the cars off the road and more transit. Great! Sign me up! Another guy kept impugning the integrity of the developer, "Oh ...

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

I brought up the fact that the whole area would best be served if there was a comprehensive vision for the Lyndale-Franklin intersection, and what it should look like. Lyndale and Franklin is a crossroads of several neighborhoods and serves as a gateway from Downtown to the more residential Wedge/Wh...

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

Since moving into the area five years ago from Uptown proper I am thrilled to see movement towards redeveloping the Lyndale and Franklin corner. Like it or not, that intersection is a gateway intersection from downtown. As it stands it is ho-hum. I drive, bike or walk through there almost daily. Thi...
