Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Discussion

That could be a really great addition to downtown. I wonder what this bill would do, unless it's just to allow for a special liquor license.
State Rep. Katie Jones, DFL-Minneapolis, introduced a bill earlier this month that seeks to allow LaSalle Plaza to operate the food hall.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

I'm curious how these were selected. It's strange that some of them were carefully pieced together from segments of other lines, like the 2/63 combo, and some are just an existing infrequent suburban (or urban) route plopped onto the map, weird industrial meanders and all.

My votes would be ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

I'm 90% sure that the bi-level doors would line up with single-level Horizon cars like they're using on the Borealis. It's probably not ADA-accessible though, I don't think there's a way for a wheelchair to get up the couple of steps from the bottom level to the mid-level where the doors are.

You ...

Note that it passed the Republican-controlled Transportation Finance and Policy committee on a party-line vote, not the actual (tied) House.

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar

I wonder if the bus overpass and the CP Spur are in there in part to be cut when people understandably raise their eyebrows at the project cost without significantly compromising the line. The overpass especially is an absurd alternative to just, like, installing signal priority to make sure the one ...

Is the diversion onto the CP spur just an excuse to buy it with transit money?

Re: Metro Transit Network Now Plan

Maybe I'm just missing it, but is there anything in there that defines what the different time periods mean? I'm assuming PM Rush still goes until 6:30, and evening starts then, but where's the transition to Night? 10pm? A few routes mention "late night" service, does that imply service past ...

Very cool! I'm hoping it's a precursor to eventually allowing fare purchases through the app like other cities do. It's so nice when traveling to have a single app that just works pretty much wherever you go.

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor - General Topics

A startup would like to convert the old Harvest States grain elevator at 41st and Hiawatha into an urban farm , starting by growing cannabis on the ground level of each silo, but eventually expanding to a vertical hydroponic system to use the full 100' height, and possibly expanding into other crops ...

Re: O2 - Washington/Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories - 247'

Wild to look at an aerial from even 2015 and realize that there's no (major) parking lots fronting Washington between Hennepin and 35W anymore.

Hoping they can get moving on Harmonia soon, though I fear that with *waves hands* everything happening right now they're just going to sell the old data ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I wonder if they'd be able to operate out of Psycho Suzi's for this summer - it's got a dock, it's got plentiful parking, presumably they could use the bathrooms, etc, in the building. On the other hand, it would also require Leslie Bock to accept that someone might do something with her property ...

Did MnDOT actually release the overarching corridor study that they were supposed to be done with by Feb 1st, or did they just decide not to bother?

I hadn't realized they'd secured all the funding, but the Boom Island trail connection will be built this summer . The Plymouth Avenue Bridge will be closed from April 21st to August 22nd, after which the East Bank Trail will pass over a new bridge over the Boom Island Marina and then through a new ...

Re: Federal Building & Post Office redevelopment speculation

From what I understand, an NRHP designation mostly just unlocks historic preservation grants and/or tax subsidies for restoration, it doesn't really prevent changes to (or even demolition of) a designated structure like local designation does. That being said, I would of course expect any proposal ...

Re: Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Clinic Expansion

A behavioral health care building seems like a much better use for that surface lot on Portland than the previously proposed megaramp. I'm curious what'll happen with the decommissioned buildings, especially the Orange Building that's presumably going to still have the street-spanning Red Building ...

Big Star Tipsy Taco Bar will be opening in the spring in the Betty Danger's space . Looks like it's pretty much just a menu change from Betty Danger's, the mini-golf and ferris wheel will be staying. Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I really like the roundabout proposal at Lowry. The weird skewed intersection requires a bigger change to be made safe, and there's space to do it with minimal property takings. I wonder if it could be shifted north or east a little bit to not interfere with the gas station tanks, if that proves to ...

Re: Federal Building & Post Office redevelopment speculation

I lived kitty-corner across the 2nd/Washington intersection for a few years, and spent a bunch of time daydreaming about the feds expanding it, building up on the parking lot and the center of the building while retaining the 2nd, Washington, and 3rd facades. That assumed that they'd never give up ...
