Re: Southdale

For the most part, shopping malls are already used as transit centers. Rosedale, Southdale, MOA, Maplewood, Northtown, etc. So, yes, I think they are logical places for transit centers. They aren't always well connected to the mall, though, they are often at the periphery.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

The bold text indicates transfer station. The yellow line in reality will share the track with green and blue lines. This is the Vignelli style: * There isn't capacity on 5th St. for another line beyond the Blue and Green lines. It would have to be a different alignment through downtown, or a subwa...

Re: Red Line (Cedar BRT)

How many colors are recognizable by the general public anyway? 10? 15? All the pretty ones are being taken and we barely have a network built. And no ones going to want the pink, brown, white, yellow and black lines. I wouldn't say we are exhausting the available colors too quickly. Even when South...

H&M opened today. Calhoun Square was, what's the word? Hopping? No. Moderately busy? Yeah. It is nice not to have the huge vacancy there anymore.

Yeah, the whole social gaming thing kind of mystifies me, too. I can't blame them for wanting to me more like Farmville or whatever the kids are playing on the facebooks these days, but to require it? Lame.

Re: MSP Airport

Well, what Alliance they join (or if they join one) doesn't technically have much bearing on this Joint Venture. And it will be a seprerate Joint Venture than the Air France-KLM-Delta-Alitalia Trans-Atlantic Joint Venture of SkyTeam members. You are right, it does require anti-trust immunity from re...

Re: MSP Airport

The only reason they would fly here is if they had an aircraft that was better suited to MSP-LHR than Delta, or they needed more capacity. This will be a joint venture, so they will share the costs and the profits of the trans-Atlantic flights. So in essence, the current flight on a Delta 767-400ER ...

Re: Green Line (Central)

They have been pretty guarded about announcing an opening date. I have kind of assumed that the target for opening will be around June of 2014, on a Satuday, but I don't really have anything concrete on that. It is encouraging that they seem to be well ahead of schedule, but there are certain things...

Re: Red Line (Cedar BRT)

No, I think it is to make it more consistant with all Metro lines, by having it be proof-of-payment. Some of the stops will have ticket vending machines, but not all. Therefor you will still be able to pay in cash onboard when boarding at a less major stop, but must retain your ticket to show Transi...

DFL. Democratic-Farmer-Labor :)

Count me among those that think a Casino is a bad idea. People avoid Block e as it is, I don't think a casino will help their perception of the area.

Re: Green Line (Central)

According to metrotransit.org, Cedar St. between 10th and 7th won't quite be ready to reopen next Saturday. There will still be a temporary detour for buses for about an additional week.

Re: Green Line (Central)

According to the details of the service changes going into effect in early December, the Downtown St. Paul detours will be ending. That means that in theory, Cedar St. should be open to traffic by next month. Based on what it looked like north of 7th St. when I last was there, that seems like a tall...

Re: The Station on Washington - (630 Washington Avenue SE)

It seems reasonable to have the tracks be mountable for buses to have the option tho get around obstructions, but to have them operate only on the tracks except when pulling up to a curbside bus stop seems silly and a waste of a full width driving lane. In any event, there will be significantly fewe...
