Re: Future of the forum
There is also https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/ , they have cool skyline diagrams, both are pretty skyscraper focused, but SSC especially so, as I recall. I joined SSC almost 20 (!) years ago when I was in college in Milwaukee, but then made the switch to Skyscraperpage for reasons I don’t entirely ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I’m not an expert on the regulations, but I’m pretty certain I-535 would be required to be connected to I-35 with free-flowing ramps up to Interstate standard. There are a some exceptions that are grandfathered in, but I don’t think new construction like that would be allowed.

Re: Dinky "tower" - McDonalds redevelopment
They’ve restriped the roads surrounding the site to make way for construction, and closed off some street parking as well. The construction for TCF to move into the old Gina and Will space has been under way for a few weeks. Seems like demolition may start fairly soon...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Let's not confuse people even more with figuring out the bus system. The Orange Line will operate frequently enough that I don't think most people will care if there's an express bus with a small number of trips during peak time that can get them to their destination slightly faster than the Orange...

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
I believe these 15% Design Plans are pretty recent, they are dated 7/1/20. I wasn't aware that bus lanes were planned (as part of a separate project) for Robert St. in downtown, for instance. All in all, a fairly significant amount of this project has dedicated lanes or a busway, compared to the BRT...

I’m not sure what metric you are using, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t 18 years.

Re: MSP Airport
Delta announced today that they are retiring the 777 fleet by the end of the year. While it is only 18 planes, it’s an indication that they anticipate a prolonged slowdown of international travel. It will probably quite some time before MSP regains all the long haul flights it had before the pandemic.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Yes, the 12 could be eliminated, with the 612 getting cut back to West Lake station, but I wouldn’t want to see the 17 cut back, it is a useful through neighborhoods south of downtown. They did release a concept bus plan in the environmental analysis phase, but obviously it was very preliminary. I w...

Re: MSP Airport
Annoying that it is getting closed after the expense of a skyway, but it always seemed like a silly solution. It isn’t surprising that there isn’t enough traffic to support a checkpoint almost totally on hotel business. It seems like they should have built a slightly longer skyway around the post of...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Based on my very anecdotal observations, drivers are... struggling to figure out where to drive for the temporary northbound bus lane on Nicollet that is being tested. The lanes are divided with traffic cones, and I saw more northbound cars in the rightmost bus lane than in the center general purpos...

Re: E Line Arterial BRT
The E Line project staff have selected a recommended route. On the north end it appears that they still have not made a final decision between a terminus at Stadium Village or Westgate stations. On the south end, the recommendation is to serve Linden Hills, 44th, and France Ave on the way to Southda...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Interesting, how will it get back to Lake St? Stevens is closed, I thought?
I wouldn’t think too many people would use the lane one 28th, since it is short, but enforcement would definitely be needed on Lake St.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Also, there is a new bus counterflow lane on 28th St between 4th Ave and either Stevens Ave or 1st Ave, I forget which. Anyone know what it is for? I’d guess a revised routing for the 11 so it doesn’t have to split apart, but I can’t figure out how it would get back to 3rd Ave.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I appreciate these are going in, but the bus lane on Chicago is quite short. It is basically a block long exclusive left turn lane into the Chicago-Lake Transit Center. Since the southbound D Line will likely stay on Chicago instead of turning into the transit center, it won’t even be of any use to ...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Also despite being two miles apart, Boston requires a local transit transfer to get between South Station and North Station by rail (Red-Orange or Red-Green). At least we have a one-seat rail connection between our two stations. A nit pick, but you can have a one-seat ride if you use Back Bay Stati...
