Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion

Minnesota has a funny history with passive aggressive word usage. Taxes become fees, fees become deposits, ... ;) Haha. Duly noted. I just enjoy hashing it out with them. If you're asking $1500+ for a one bed with not one single utility included, I'm going to clarify every definition of fee, poll t...

Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion

I'm far away from Uptown, but I believe my apartment complex imposes an extra one-time pet deposit, rather than extra rent. Fee or deposit? Some places told us about a non refundable "deposit." When I mentioned that it was just a fee since it wasn't refunded, they kept calling it a deposi...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Also, signal pre-emption please! It won't shake the perception as being "slow" when it gets treated like a second-class citizen compared to the cars on the street. . Yeah, the amount of time I spent waiting for signals and at intersections was just ugh. I kept seeing cars zoom by, in the ...

Rode end to end in one hour, 7 minutes. TFS to SPUD. Time to grab some beers and stop being a transit dude!

Re: Target Field Station

We also noticed that if you take the stairs up(from 5th ave) you have to go to the far entrance( right)in order to swipe your card. Seems similar to how I approach Downtown East on most days, from the east going toward Target Field. You have to walk all the way across the station to get to a ticket...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Yeah, though the 50 has never carried this many passengers either. Metro Transit reported 33,000 rides as of 5 pm (7 hours in service): https://twitter.com/MetroTransitMN/status/477933648545865728 This train is certainly packed with curious people like myself. Totally expected it to be super popula...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

24 minutes from TFS to East Bank. The 50 smoked that time consistently. Patience, right?

Re: Target Field Station

So we boarded at platform 2 and the guy in the neon vest told us that most days it won't be in use. We also noticed that if you take the stairs up(from 5th ave) you have to go to the far entrance( right)in order to swipe your card. The "entrance" at the top left of stairs seems marked exit...

Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion

M'rent in m'Loring Park one bedroom goes up to $925 August 1st.

What's CRAZY is that my building's one bedrooms are like $950 and the two bedrooms are like $1200. That's some math.
Not bad. That LPM tower starts at $1702 for a one bedroom? Do they hand out free beer at the door?

Re: Apartment Boom

Mine is embarrassingly expensive, and so I won't share. Next round, I want some cheap rent! Shame. Shame. Shame.

Is St Paul any cheaper?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

It felt super frequent to me. Even knowing that I'd see a train every 5 minutes if they were running full headways, it felt like I was seeing a train every couple of minutes. It felt like they were running at 5 minute headways. I actually whipped out my phone to time it because I was a little surpr...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

They're running trains on campus like gangbusters right now, I definitely saw two trains going to Minneapolis with the Green Square and "Union Depot" as the destination on the sign. I was over there for a few minutes today. Was I seeing things, or were trains coming through more often tha...

Re: Apartment Boom

When we moved here, we were continually being sold on the $800 Minneapolis 1bd apartment. Elusive little bugger. Not an easy find for someone out of town. Even harder to find in the middle of winter.

Have you seen a drastic uptick in rental prices in the last year or two?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Someone who needs to make those trips should buy a U-pass. Transit ain't free (not saying it shouldn't be...) I still favor a mandatory U-pass for anyone taking a full load of credits (13 or more). It's such a minor drop in the bucket compared to full tuition costs. Agreed. I always see administrat...
