Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I mean, now we're just complaining about the media behavior. Same as it ever was. And complaining about residents monitoring/measuring a public works project in their neighborhood? That's how it's supposed to work. If residents don't keep an eye on a project, who else should? The Met Council doesn't...

Re: West End area - St. Louis Park / Golden Valley
There are (functional?) vehicle charging stations at Costco. The gas station is constantly busy. If anything, Costco and its gas station are the largest draw in the area. There's likely not a more profitable business use for that gas station property than what it already is. Just changing the design...

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
PLACE/Via seems stalled out. They haven't been able to meet any of the deadlines on this project over multiple years. It was a bold plan with lots of neat features, but it's going precisely as its detractors predicted. I was a supporter of this, but the goalposts have continually moved enough where ...

Re: Cemeteries
That Baltrami Park bit is fascinating. This is only a new topic for the US. Many more densely populated countries have been repurposing cemeteries for centuries. It's pretty common for European development projects to uncover (hopefully not recently) dead folks.

Would be neat to see a little more mixed use, but might not be completely suitable for that space.

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
I'm not worried long-term. SOMETHING will go in there; the property will be too valuable. I commend the city for trying to get something environmentally and civically progressive, but it seems like it might have been a little too much of a reach.

Re: Beltline Station Area – St. Louis Park
I thought this was interesting and the forum could be a place to get some ideas. Kenwood Gymnastics has been told their lease will end because the current building owner is looking to sell/redevelop the property. Kenwood would like to find/build a new facility nearby. From the owner: It's been 9 yea...

Assuming you're referring to the Hwy 169 Mobility Study: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hwy169study/.
The improvements to Cedar Lake Rd and possible frontage roads have loads of contingencies and a proposed implementation span of 2022 - 2043. I won't hold my breath.

Update on the former Sam's Club site from the city council: "On Sept. 16, council will give final approvals to rezone the site from Commercial to a combination of High-Density Multiple Family Residential and Business Park, enabling the potential for at least 500 new housing units and 100 jobs o...

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
Park Spanish Immersion school moved to the old Cedar Manor building this school year. It's a huge improvement in the facility, but bike access is pretty bad along Cedar Lake road. I know they're improving the east end of Cedar Lake Rd, but I haven't been able to find anything on the west end, to Hwy...

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
Not much has taken place at the site this summer. Does not give me warm fuzzies about the timeline. Really guessing the second phase of the project isn't getting secured. The city project site hasn't had an update since December. https://www.stlouispark.org/government/departments-divisions/community...

I don't think that type of store is in Hyvee's portfolio. They're all giant warehouse types. The Sam's Club property seems more of a fit for Hyvee.

Dress Barn is closing all of its stores, seems unlikely that it's connected to rent.

Re: West End / Central Park West Development - St. Louis Park
Speaking for myself, the retail at West End doesn't create much of a destination district. My wife isn't drawn to much there either, but she works and shops downtown. Creating a successful retail district also requires... successful retail. It seems better designed as an entertainment district, but ...

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it's as follows: 25 seats / 3 = 8.333333 spaces 960 sq ft / 250 = 3.84 spaces Gross requirement = 12.17 spaces - 2 on-street space credits - 1 bike rack credit - 2 transit stop proximity credits Net requirement = 7.17 spaces. So which way does the city round? I'm guess...

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
Just messaged SLP about the Via (Place) development, as not much has happened over the summer. City Staff met with the PLACE team earlier this week, and they are still on track for the development. The Federal Tax Bill that was passed at the end of 2017 caused a hiccup in their financing for the pro...

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
According to someone in the SLP planning department, demolition should start in the next couple days. There were "delays" in PLACE getting started. They have had discussions about what happens if the SWLRT improvements are delayed/dropped, and there is some interest in making improvements ...

Re: Wooddale Station Area / PLACE Proposal - St. Louis Park
Still no progress on the site. Some survey markers were put up, but no demolition activity. My big question is around the traffic plan. The traffic mitigation plan for this site was dependent on the SWLRT improvements being made to the Wooddale / Hwy 7 / 36th St / bike trail intersections. With SWLR...
