Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

When I asked Metro Transit about what happens after the #54 extension's 3-year "demonstration" period was complete they did not mention the East 7th ABRT (though I mentioned it in my question). Rather, the answer was sort of that it would duplicate the future Rush Line. While they travel i...

Phalen Village

There have been a few articles now about the Paster Properties development at Phalen Village (approximately Phalen Blvd and Maryland Ave). https://www.twincities.com/2018/04/05/paster-properties-plans-a-phalen-boulevard-grocery-strip-mall-and-a-woonerf/ Positive aspects are that huge vacant space is...

Re: Bike Share

In a different political climate, we'd grant the Met Council the power to negotiate one bike sharing agreement for the whole urban area. It's true that it makes the most sense to have a metro-wide system like MetroTransit, but it appears that cities that have done that with their bike share (D.C., ...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota

The metro is already pretty flat
But certain parts aren't, especially in St. Paul with the combo of bluffs and Lowertown. i think there is a lot of potential to get folks who are out of shape on an e-bike.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

And one has to expect that candidates like Murphy or Otto will have their most sympathetic base at the caucuses. As the voting population expands at the primaries, and ultimately the general election, Walz should be even stronger. This is exactly what I was thinking. But considering historical info...

Re: Beacon Bluff (former 3M Campus)

The Volema companies currently have buildings on the West Side, so it's not clear if this is actually adding jobs to the city or just moving them from one neighborhood to another.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

It was stated that Coleman doesn't have a statewide campaign vs Otto, but it looks like he raised a lot more money.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

But the experience of the Red Line being labeled as "Metro" and "BRT" is going to make a lot of riders--and, heck, transit wonks like ourselves--very skeptical of the quality of service on future projects like Gold and Rush and will probably hurt ridership. I've never ridden the...

Are they the kind of derailments that have caused injuries? I'd be more worried about number of pedestrians killed than minor derailments.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

No surprise with this LPA, in my opinion. Ford site is definitely a location for strong transit, but it was a large detour from the stated purpose of this line. I am also sort of glad that it is streetcar in that we can bring the St. Paul streetcar plan back to life. Time to look at E7th, Payne, and...
