Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

They have a map for each route on the link above. From the sounds of it you'd have to transfer from the 58 or 64 to the 54 to get to the airport. I haven't studied all of the east side routes, so I don't know if anything would get you to the airport without transferring. The #3, which I just discove...

Re: Metro Transit Network Now Plan

In my East St. Paul neighborhood, here's what concerns me... The 64 won't go east of Payne and the 58 (formerly 54) won't go west of Arcade north of 7th. So there's no opportunity to transfer between 64 and 58 unless you're on E 7th st. I think it's about a half mile between Payne and Arcade. I gue...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

Is there information on the Network Now Route 58? I can't find any information online about that anywhere. https://www.metrotransit.org/network-now Route Information Service Changes • New route number replacing existing Route 54M • Weekdays and Saturdays: Frequency increased from every 30 minutes t...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

Between the #64 and the #58, I'm going to suggest they swap their north of Maryland routes so they overlap for that short bit between Payne and Arcade along Maryland. In my mind that would make the 64 route closer to what it has been and the 58 route closer to what the 61 has been (on our side of to...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

Is it true that regular buses can't use the BRT bus stops? I regularly get off the bus by Pappy's at WBA and Maryland, and that would be problematic. Also, do cars really stay out of the side-running lanes? The way I've seen cars barrel down the shared turn lane on Maryland makes me think people wou...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Anyone know where I can find more info on the rerouting of the #64: "Routing will temporarily change to 7th St. due to 6th St. construction."
The PDF map they give doesn't show where the stops will be or give any details on timing.

Re: Transit Crime

Somewhat positive article on fare enforcement: https://www.startribune.com/fare-evaders-beware-metro-transit-is-checking-and-enforcement-is-yielding-results/600334669/ Does anyone know what the enforcement process actually looks like? If someone gets a parking ticket there is ostensibly a state-issu...

Re: Fare-Free Transit

Lack of service; we really should have more 15 min routes by now Unreliability: being 5 minutes late is usually fine unless it causes you to miss a transfer or 3 Awkward stops; getting better but some stops are still a bit of a walk from anything Clumsy payment methods; people have already complain...

Re: Fare-Free Transit

I agree that two routes being fare free is hard to notice. It's when it's system-wide that it would cause a significant shift in behavior. It's funny to read this right after reading a MnPost article on increasing fare checks: https://www.minnpost.com/metro/2023/09/survey-of-metro-transit-riders-sho...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

The original plan I think wasn't to rebuild that intersection but instead build a bridge over Johnson Parkway from the berm to Phalen Blvd north of that intersection. Maybe that's still the easiest way to go, it just seems like a lot of construction for a short stretch. Avoiding a couple intersectio...

Clarence and Hazelwood seem very close.
If it goes this route would they bother going on the berm between Cub and Johnson Pkwy?

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

The Arcade St station has been refined to one alternative on the north side of Phalen with a ped ramp up to Neid/Arcade, and another that detours the bus via Neid, then cuts back to Phalen before the light at Arcade. That alternative keeps the stop at the same grade as Arcade, but is a little more ...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)

The point of that station all along was to capitalize on the future potential of a derelict strip mall. The potential for future developments at the Wells Street station is much, much less than the potential at the Arcade Street station. Would the development occur? I don't know. Probably not. But f...
