Awesome! Livening up the south side of Meer's park will really add to the atmosphere of Lowertown. It'd be nice if Lowertown Lofts and/or The Parkside would do something at street level too.It looks to me like work has started on the World of Beers in the Straus Lofts building.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I know it's very far in the future and may never happen, but I'm still curious. Are there any early maps of where this theoretic 894 bypass might be located? I went looking and couldn't find anything.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Expanding on the idea of removing the driving lanes on Girard and converting to a pedestrian walkway... This would be a very good place to put in an elevated crosswalk on Lagoon to calm traffic. I'd keep the light there so traffic stops on a regular basis to allow pedestrian flow. Expanding on that...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Girard can be super-calmed, but it shouldn't be pedestrian only. It provides access from westbound Lagoon to the Calhoun Square ramp without having to circulate through the already congested Henn-Lake intersection, and provides access from eastbound Lake to the Mozaic ramp without additional circul...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Blaisedell will be receiving a protected bikeway this year between 31st St and 40th St. It will be "vertically separated," which will be accomplished by only having one lane of car traffic. Public works is requesting an MSA variance. More info: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/meetings/legisl...

A http://onetwothreesushi.com would be awesome but probably wouldn't work with all the other sushi competition in the immediate area.I want a food option that's fast and something other than pizza and sandwiches.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I've no idea about practicality, but that's what I'd personally prefer. I think multiple storefronts would make the whole area work better. There's already a glut of restaurants so one fewer isn't going to hurt. More stores might attract more shoppers. Is it practical to sub-divide this thing?

... I had thought for the longest time that the bus icon was based on buses transmitting their GPS coordinates, but lately it's been nowhere close to accurate so I'm thinking maybe the bus icon is based on the published time schedule. Or, perhaps the published scheduled is used when GPS isn't avail...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I feel like Google Map's transit interface has gotten better and better, to the point that using any other app or mobile website simply doesn't make any sense. I use Google Map's transit interface most of the time as well. I also enjoy this app too though: http://transitapp.com It has a few feature...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
The 9 story version was never their intention. I guarantee it was a negotiating tactic from the start. That was my suspicion too. I'm no insider, so looking at it from from the outside, isn't it pretty standard for developers to make proposals that go beyond what they'd actually be willing to settl...

That sounds suspect. Whether or not its a fire code though, they have the legal right to restrict the number of occupants.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Yeah, I think it looks great! On another light related Uptown topic, I was a little disappointed to see the boulevard trees on Hennepin/Lake no longer populated with Christmas lights in December. It created a great holiday atmosphere. If I remember correctly, Lynlake still puts them up. Maybe its be...

The partnership with Palace Theatre could potentially provide a bridge for the current owners to allow time for a full redevelopment including new First Avenue space. I'm not trying to start a ru...

From: https://streets.mn/2016/01/14/10-redevelopment-projects-transforming-msp-in-2016/ As First Avenue weathers rumors of its impending demise in Minneapolis (the collapsing ceiling didn’t help), its owners have quietly partnered with Jam Productions and the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Autho...
