Re: Shapco Printing Site - (524 Fifth Street North)
Very interesting. I think we need a more retailed rendering before people can get bent out of shape, but it's certainly a lot better than what I was expecting.

Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
I love this project. Rode past the area on my bike a few weeks ago and was surprised how far along things are. It's nice when developers pick a small space like this that most people wouldn't even consider and plot a building like this in.

Re: 4Marq - (400 Marquette Avenue)
height variation is nice when you're talking about buildings that are in the 2-8 story range. If you have to strain your neck to see the top from across the street, it's hard to notice the height variance between buildings that are this tall.

New Strib article claims there are now 60 presold units. http://www.startribune.com/housing/2089 ... page=2&c=y
With less than 3 months worth of condo inventory on the market, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few new condo projects announced later this year.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
At least one of the block would need to substantial excavation and the surface parking lot closest to downtown will probably need a decent amount of work to clean surface level contamination before the park goes in. While it does cost more money to put parking below the ground, I think it's a much b...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
What I don't understand is why the city wants to use city blocks to build more parking ramps. Why not install a multi-level underground parking facility beneath the entire park? Yes, it's more expensive, but it would be more accessible to downtown which would increase its use during the week days. D...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Not at all what I was expecting, but I do like the design. There's always room for improvement, but architecture is an art, not a science. I'm a bit surprised at the overall height of the stadium design. If the massive glass doors are 90 feet tall, the highest point of the stadium will be over 200 f...

Re: Pioneer Endicott Building - (141 East Fourth Street)
Those rental prices seem to be a bit high for Saint Paul, but this would definitely be the building at the top of my list if I was looking to more to downtown. can't wait to see what the units looks like once they are finished. While downtown Saint Paul may be a dead zone for business, it could turn...

Re: The Great River Passage Plan
It's nice that they want to create comprehensive plans for the river, but things like this always tend to get in the way of organic development by forcing some pre-conceived notion that the city knows best. If the city has no intention of funding any of this development, they need to simply get out ...

Re: Mortenson Apartment Tower - (400 Marquette Avenue)
I'm not too thrilled with the design, but it's a lot better than having a surface parking lot. With the two apartment buildings on this block and the Soo Line Building conversion right across the street, we could be looking at 1,000 new residents in a very small corner of downtown. 1,000 residents m...

Re: 700 Washington & Third Apartments/Hotel
It's nice to see we'll have another development along Washington. After years or work, this area is truly turning into a residential neighborhood. As far as size goes, they will be able to get the apartment units and hotel rooms all wrapped up in a 10-15 story building. While this is three blocks cl...

It was either an HDR or panorama shot - both of which are composed of multiple exposures and then merged into a single image. Moving object often get chopped up, duplicated or turn semi-transparent.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I know a lot of people wanted something larger on this block, but I think the end result will be just fine. Most tall buildings have a way of standing out from the neighborhood rather than incorporating into it. What we need is better city life with walkable streets and store fronts - something that...

Re: Plymouth Building apartments
One other benefit of this building being converted into apartments is that it takes a good chunk of available office space off the market. If this trend continues, we could see a 2-3 other office-to-apartment conversion projects in the next year which will help put a tight squeeze on office space an...

A quick look at Las Vegas hotels gives you an idea of what Hotel competition really means. MGM owns half of the strip.
