Re: North Loop Neighborhood

I'm surprised I haven't found any information on the Vesi project on River Road?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Mission American Kitchen closed. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2020/03/09/mission-american-kitchen-closes-in-downtown.html Damn, my wife and I ate there a few years ago and recently moved downtown and were planning to go there again soon (it also helps that she works in IDS building)....

Re: Target Field Station (the Hotel) & Target Field Station (the Station)

We used to live right next door to the Holiday at Junction Flats and that station is very busy. Plus there's no other gas station nearby for those folks that do live in the area but have to drive out of town to work (like we did).

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I mean, you can go see it though, right? People aren't, like, covering up the sculpture itself.
You can see it but it you wanted to go into the common area underneath it (to see it close up), you wouldn't feel comfortable doing so - it's basically full of people sleeping, etc.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I don’t often bike in but coming in this morning I saw something like barriers around it. Do they put up barriers regularly? I switched buses downtown this morning and saw the barriers off to the side (that was around 7 AM)...thought maybe they were planning to do something with them by the sculptu...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I admired the sculpture as they built it, but I've never felt comfortable going beneath it to enjoy or even get a good look at it. Maybe there can be some sort of day center built for people to hang out and use computers and etc instead of the library? Otherwise maybe the police can use no drug and...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Yeah, that area seems to have gotten out of control pretty quickly. I don't have a good answer, but the current situation is definitely not going to encourage anybody to sign a lease down there. A lot of Nicollet Mall seems to have gotten worse recently...yesterday I saw people grabbing multiple ch...

Re: Uptown (and LynLake) Development & General Topics

The principle of induced demand works whenever you provide a good to people for free, or bake the cost into what they are already paying. If you build parking people will fill it. If you don't build parking or charge a separate, market-rate fee for it, people will find alternatives. That's why it's...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

The sidewalks outside the TractorWorks Building and the warehouse condos across the street (801 Washington) are getting some planter spaces installed (jack-hammered out the concrete and prepping for plantings and/or trees, from the looks of it). Does anyone know if this is part of a city project? O...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Not sure if this has been mentioned...looks like they scrapped that 11 floor office building. Fine with me, really. http://www.journalmpls.com/news/development/2017/08/schafer-richardson-begins-renovating-weather-rite-building/ I actually think what they're doing with this building in the neighborh...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

That would be perfect on the surface lots on 2nd & Washington across from the Sex World building.
As long as they put some parking under it. Those surface lots are where most of the people from my office park at :D
You work at SexWorld? ;)

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

As to the ever-present comparison to the North Loop, I'll repeat that the North Loop retail resurgence took off close to a full decade after we started building thousands of residential units there. The downtown core has had half that. Not to mention the fact that much of the North Loop’s growth in...

They did finally start leasing in the past week - website is functional, new banner on building advertising immediate occupancy (haven't seen anyone move in or apartment lights on inside yet though).

Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North

Anyone know anything new about this property? I see there's a new banner on the side of the building along 5th St (up high), but their website still isn't in place. I wouldn't be surprised if squatters try and get in somehow - it's a prime building for that to happen in...

Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North

Well I'm sure just about anything can be fixed (and probably for way less than the expense of tearing it down, along with the loss of $$$ just dumped into the project). I did see they have had a few permits in regards to fixing a broken drain line (that has since been cleared). Also looks like an op...

Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North

I did call the phone number I found for them and was able to leave a message but haven't gotten any kind of callback. I indicated we were very interested in apartments (we actually were), but no response at all. As a side note - a few weeks ago the door to the "lobby" area was unlocked on ...

Re: District 600 - 600 5th Street North

I spoke with one of the leasing agents in our building (Junction Flats) regarding District 600 across the street and how it hasn't opened for tenants yet. She indicated that it isn't going to anytime soon. Apparently the developer wanted to sell it but is having issues finding a buyer as all buyers ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

My wife and I were just talking about how they could really use a bakery...and you're right about a bank, I normally only go in a couple times a year (mainly to turn in change or get large amounts of cash for vacation). And ice cream shop would be great...and I hate to say this (and most people woul...
