Does anyone else feel that Mortensen hasn't leaked their renderings because they are embarrassed to be compared to the other 3?
Also, with the amount of press these buildings are getting, I feel it puts a lot of pressure on Opus to do something iconic with the Ritz block.

Re: Downtown Retail News
Walgreens is going to lease the entire 37,000 square feet of space that Saks occupies, and use 23,000 for their store. Their flagship store in Chicago is 27,800. So, the marquee store isn't that much smaller than a flagship store, and they have a ton of extra space to convert it to a flagship store ...

Re: Holidazzle Market
My friends and I have been going their for lunch and rather enjoy the food and talking to the vendors and speculating what future years could be like if this is successful. (one of these such friends has spent a number of years of his life in Germany and has enjoyed their chirstmas markets as well....

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
It's basically just a paper receipt that you present at future visits. Fairly underwhelming. A card or button would have been much better in my opinion. What are the mechanics of the pass? Like, is it a thing you have to carry with you? Are you on some list?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
They were letting people in for free Friday before 4pm so we lucked out. We immediate experienced a big problem: the space is no place for a stroller. Frankly, the layout wasn't very well thought out for families. Even families with older kids had trouble keeping them in the narrow lines between bo...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I would be interested to see a figure of how many of these rides are 'intra-campus' rides -- rides from the west bank to the east bank, etc. I'd argue that these rides aren't nearly as important as other trips, and may be inflating the ridership numbers. I do see quite a few people getting on at St...

Re: TCF Bank Building Redevelopment
Interesting... 175,000 to 600,000 Sq Ft., quite the range! TCF Bank Building owner looks at hotel/office redevelopment for site The article states the current building is 4-stories and 170,000 sq/ft. Unless the floor plates are much smaller, even at 600,000 sq/feet would only be 15-20 stories.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
For reference, I had to take a trip on the Green Line today. Nicollet to Central - 40:31 Central to Nicollet - 43:37 How is the trip now that all the minor intersections have full transit priority? I ride everyday from downtown Minneapolis to Fairview and regularly get stopped at Eustis/Cromwell, R...

Not really confusing, but I always thought the number of stipulations on this one is funny:

Re: Portland & 8th Street Condo Building - 516 S. 8th St.
The convenience store in Center Village has been closed for months. Not sure if there are plans to re-open something at that location. There isn't much demand for retail in this part of town right now, but there's certainly potential if something decent is put in the KA and surrounding blocks. If t...

Re: Stanton Condo Building - 516 S. 8th St.
I wonder what the expectation is with this retail space. As far as downtown retail goes, this is really in the middle of nowhere. There's a couple of convenience stores nearby (in Centre Village and Skyscape), but 8th Street is not a logical place for retail. 3,000 square feet... I wonder if they a...

Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast
Does anyone have the final renderings for this building? Based on the construction so far, it's hard to tell where the tower portion will end up. My assumption is that the tower is the last section built, but that doesn't match any of the photos I'm seeing online. It would also mean a lot of inside...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I see the Center Village skyway as the connecting point for the HCMC. You have only the Sexton block to cross thru and you are then across Portland and in the new HCMC Medical Center. They can add another skyway across Park to the Main HCMC complex very easily. That connection could go across Park ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I went through campus westbound yesterday evening around 6 pm and didn't notice any extra stops. I've seen bad behavior from the lights when they're doing signal maintenance, which might be what was going on. Still weird how the lights seem to either work really well for the trains or really badly,...
