Re: Vikings Stadium
Interesting little tid bit on the design: As discussed in Section 3.12, the height and massing of the Proposed Project would be larger than the height and massing of the Metrodome. The Proposed Project will be surrounded by existing multi-story buildings as the Metrodome is today. The proposed mater...

Re: Vikings Stadium
The test boring logs listed in the document are completely fascinating. Roughly 50ft to the limestone in this area, I think that is a good indication of maximum depth below street grade the structure could go.

Re: Green Line (Central)
Reading these articles, it seems so odd that there is still a year plus to go, when it's already 92% completed. Is it really going to take a year to finish the electrical grid, finish up loose ends and test the system? Or is the percent completed just misleading?

Re: IDS Center
Article on BizJournal today - The new owners are planning some updates it seems. One of them though makes me sick: The white light bulbs that define the edge of the skyway level could get replaced with some kind of electronic signage . Also a mention of possibly booting some banks out of the skyway ...

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
It made me happy just to stand there and watch it happen (also didn't hurt that it is so damn nice out). As I was standing there staring at it on the corner, an out of towner commented to me how cool of a building it was, and that it was nice to see so much working being done on it. Standing on this...

Re: Mortenson Hotel - (19 8th Street North)
A little story today on bizjournal about the skyway that stretches across the property connecting Pence to the A/Hawthorn ramps. Looks like the city has to pay for the removal and replacement of the skyway with an estimated cost of a million dollars. I walk that skyway connection everyday, and I lik...

Maybe you're thinking of the MLB Allstar game, which was in 1985 at the dome.

Re: City Place Lofts - (730 Hennepin Avenue)
Looks like they may be starting. From my vantage point in the Pence building, they look to be gutting the second floor. Lots of people in hardhats walking around.

Re: Mortenson Hotel (Corner First Ave North & 8th Street Nor
Being someone that works in the Pence building, losing that skyway connection during construction will suck. Yeah I know, first world problems.
I do look forward to renderings though!

Re: Mortenson Apartment Tower - (400 Marquette Avenue)
I like it, but it doesn't really look scaled correctly, being that the shorter 5th street tower across the street is also 26 floors.

Re: Vikings Stadium
Back to the VIKINGS.......they are slowly revealing new uniforms on their website. Looks like they're ditching the bright purple and yellow for a darker purple and truer looking gold. Maybe incorporating black into the uniform too, if the team cleats are any indication. New logo, new uniforms, new ...

Re: Old Cass Gilbert Designed Anoka State Hospital Buildings
I don't suppose there's any interest in rehabbing them for housing? They're also one block from a mental/chemical dependency facility , which may make it less desirable for housing. And apparently they're haunted. Haunted, if you believe such things. A good friends friend worked as a security guard...

Re: Old Cass Gilbert Designed Anoka State Hospital Buildings
The council minutes didn't really mention many rehab examples other than looking at other old hospitals that have been rehabbed into office parks. There is a big senior center being developed just south of it (phase one is finishing up, phase two coming), so housing is being built in the area. These...
