Re: Condo resale value
Another tip is if the condo association allows no more than 20-30% of units to be rentals. Lenders look unfavorably on anything above that, as well as FHA. You want owners who live there and have a stake in ownership. Plus, the added benefit is that you will have stability of residents and less tran...

Re: West Lake Station Area - Multimodal study, Development, etc.
Would we like to see all those businesses integrated into an urban village? And...what about the parking? There is barely enough now. Parking ramp?

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S
REX 26 is a six story building, though it is being sold as a "five" story. See the city staff report. They pull no punches. It truly is out of proportion to the rest of the neighborhood which already has 3-4 story buildings. The Garfield Gables condo building and the several apartment buil...

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S
This project is way out of proportion to the rest of the neighborhood. The alley can only accommodate one car at a time. It's not a commercial alleyway. Garfield Gables building (directly east) goes right up to the property line in some parts and will make this a potentially hazardous alley.

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S
A three or four story structure would fit better. No way the city allows deliveries through the alley. The only way in would be on 26th Street for 27th is too narrow even for small delivery trucks. 26th alley entry would be problematic as well with entry and exit. There will be long traffic stoppage...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
My neighbor went to the Whittier meeting after I encouraged him to attend. He's never been to one of these before. He was upset that it was not well managed and that it was 2 1/2 hours long, people arguing, and being asses. My neighbor is a guy who works nights and just happened to have the evening ...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Doing away with parking on Lagoon would be very problematic. Almost all the apartment buildings on Lagoon, The Mall, and side streets have NO PARKING whatsoever, or just a few spots. Most of the buildings were built before the automobile or early part of the 20th century when few people owned them a...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
I have to agree with David Greene here. The burden is on the developer to make a sound sales pitch. If you can't do that then you get an F for effort. The average Joe is not going to be up on every nuance of city code, and what the long term goal is for that neighborhood. For crying out load hire a ...

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S
The developer said they want the height to be 59 feet, instead of the current allowable 56 feet. The extra three feet is to accommodate the retail level which will be a national chain. The retailer will be known Friday. He was under non- disclosure until then. He did day it was not Trader Joe's. If ...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Lyn-Lake is not Uptown like Henn/Lake is. It was not that long ago Lyn-Lake was undesirable. Crime and drug dealers along with abandoned storefronts sprinkled in with regular businesses. When the the internet cafe Cyber-X opened on the corner (where Cause used to be) in the 1990's it was the beginni...

Re: East End / Thresher Square - 713 Washington Ave S
Except that Meg Tuthill did not offer to help at all. Pure obstructionist. She was nothing more than a NIMBY, and an arrogant one at that. A first hand source told me that in the face to face meeting between Tuthill and top brass from California, the TJ folks were aghast at her attitude. Good riddan...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
I stopped in last Saturday thinking it was going to be a forum on the opening of Nicollet. I left because it was a "visioning" exercise that seemed focused on how the neighborhood should look like. Well, the neighborhood looks good compared to 15-20 years ago. And now that the hipsters and...

These people are fanatics and crazies. Just awful and childish. There are proposals to demolish other older homes in Uptown and these people don't lift a finger for that because they aren't they are part of TP Healy's legacy.
