Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
lol. Good to see they are going with the best of the proposed layouts. As an anti car head I don't mind the street being open to car traffic. I think in this city car traffic is a reality, and the focus should not be on car-free zones rather on calming the fuck out of traffic and replacing lanes wi...

Are you from some sort of alternate reality?Thankfully they did leave this open to traffic. This is a major artery from downtown to Richfield.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Have to agree MOA appears to be doing just fine. The place is absolutely packed on weekend nights and there's very few vacancies. While I think it's doing fine, aren't two of the former anchors spots still mostly empty? And there are a lot of what look like pretty low revenue generating spaces too.

A lot of politics comes down to how you feel about other people. Are other people competition for scarce resources who may be out to get you? Or are they neighbors who are part of community?

Once interest rates start falling again (shouldn't be too much longer), it sure seems like development should be coming.

It is all a silly waste of time, litigating against an imagined future that isn't going to happen and doing next to nothing to stop actual progress.

Re: New Third Precinct Station
I’ve never seen the cops in my neighborhood, even before 2020, so that’s moot for me personally, but the burned out building is a massive blight on an area that needs a lot of help. If it’s politically untenable to ever use that building again they should have torn it down two years ago. That I agr...

Re: New Third Precinct Station
As someone who lives in the third precinct, the delay is becoming pretty absurd. As someone who also lives in the third precinct, why? Personally, I cannot tell any difference from when it was in operation. I haven't seen anyone make the case that we somehow benefit from having exactly five precinc...

It gives people who are actually careful about the speed they go permission to go a little slower and worry less about the person behind them. But there aren't very many of us and it actually is hard to drive slower than the design speed.

Re: Fare-Free Transit
It is interesting to me how many of these arguments can be directly translated from the "is fare-free transit a good idea?" debate to the "are toll-free highways a good idea?" debate. I imagine that most of our knee-jerk reactions (including myself) would put us on a different s...

Just realizing how weird it is that there's not a single hotel on St. Anthony Main. Especially considering the many wedding venues. I guess there's the Nicollet Island Inn, so there's one. Not a single hotel in Dinkytown either. A few in Stadium Village. The city's pattern of hotels is indeed stran...
