Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar

Yep what a mess. Maybe they should go back to looking at the CP Ford Spur alignment if it means actual dedicated ROW with 2-3 car trains and better speed. Have Randolph-West 7th become ABRT, with a transfer to/from LRT at Randolph/West 7th where the Ford Spur is adjacent. Then have it come up the h...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

What is it with businesses and parking? If you make the sidewalk outside of your shop larger, isn't it more inviting? Is it more important to get business from people living in some far-flung exurb than in the neighborhood?? I fail to see their perspective. I'm with you on this. Good news is that t...

Re: Fantasy maps

It's a rushed rendering, but this is what I've been daydreaming about lately: The future of Target Field Station. With Northern Lights Express (eventually) coming, the station's current footprint will be basically at capacity. How can this location evolve to become a serious intercity rail hub? Can ...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar

The Met Council still needs to communicate who and why made the short decision that prevent the interlining with Green Line I can't remember where I read it (buried in some document or post). But, the challenges cited with Green Line interlining had to do with the steep approach on 5th st ending in...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Does anyone else feel like the KMOJ vs. LRT is an unfair framing of the issue? It seems to me that light rail would fit just fine through this corridor, but the inclusion of car lanes puts it over the current ROW width. What's really putting properties such as KMOJ at risk is the assumption that we ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

I think the rework of the F branch is a good start.. Having it stay on Minnetonka to Ottawa/Beltline is excellent, however stopping it at Park Glen well short of the major destinations along and near Excelsior is such a misstep IMHO. Also just having reserve commute trips is just confusing and ensur...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

3 things: 1) The lighting on the crown has been on for a couple weeks now, and I have to say it looks fantastic! 2) ..But, it's unfortunate that they didn't light the Washington(NE) side of the crown. It looks weird to me having that side dark. I assume the reason is that there is a balcony right be...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

Is anyone else disappointed in the material they chose for the crown of the building?

It looks like bleak, grey plastic.

I wish they would have chosen something reflective.

Cover Ayd Mill Road

So let me know if this has already been talked about (new here), BUT, as someone who commutes to work on Ayd Mill almost every day, I'm well aware of 1) How useful it is. 2) How ugly it is. I'm also aware of the movement to make it into a linear park or at least shrink it to a two lane road. I say l...

Re: Target Field Station

Hey everyone, First off, hi, I'm new here. My friends always groan when I start talking about transit etc, so I think this forum will be a good outlet for me. Second, a question: I rode downtown the other day to check out the new station, and I was deeply confused. It now appears that there are two ...
