Re: 628 University Ave SE

There's really not much to preserve with that old house. It certainly doesn't look historic from the outside. If it was moved to Nicollet Island, people would wonder why they built an old crappy looking house out there next to all the historic stuff.

Re: Red 20 - (519 Central Ave NE, former Totino's site)

Interesting graph about parking requirements in various cities. Looks like we're pretty low. http://graphingparking.wordpress.com/

Re: Rampton Apartments (201 2nd Ave SE)

This would be awesome as it would add some great density to an already very live able/walkable neighborhood.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

Also of note- the Armory will now be directly on the park. Which certainly makes it even more intriguing for redevelopment
Won't it still be separated by 5th st/LRT?

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

This is awesome! If there's retail, housing and office in these 5 blocks, plus that big park, it will transform the whole city. Can you imagine a summer night with outdoor concerts (or any number of events) at Loring, Peavy and this park? In addition to Mill Ruins?

Re: Surdyk's/US Bank/West Photo Block

The Arones spot is also prime for development. I could see something with street level retail (2 spots) and 5-6 floors (or more) above.

Re: Superior Plating site

This would be crazy on this site! Something like this, if done right, would be amazing in the area. If there was retail on the ground floor, and some commercial office space, this could totally change the neighborhood.

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)

Instead of all of these buildings having their own workout facilities, it would be interesting to see NE bring in an LA Fitness or something (similar to Uptown) that could be shared by renters and other residents alike.

College has become much less of an educational experience and much more of something you go to so you can put it on your resume above your "leadership" experiences so you can get a job in human resources.
How so?

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)

Is there really demand for assisted living downtown? (serious question)
There's actually a lot out there about senior living in downtown cores because they don't need cars and easy access to health care options.

There's a big hole in the ground now. How is this going to affect the soap factory and other building on the corner?

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)

I talked to the architect at the NE Neighborhood Fest and the first few floors are going to be parking. The windows are bigger to hide the cars. Not sure how I feel about that.

It's almost all cleared now - except for the huge pile of dirt in the middle. Is the church the only ground level retail?
