Re: Dinkytown
Still though, some minor historical event that took place on that site before the current buildings were built should not be used to protect those buildings. If anything, it would be reason to rebuild a replica of what was torn down I'd personally have no issue with limiting the height on this site ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Note to the Gold Line planners: this is how you don't skimp on BRT and prioritize transit over cars at "pinch points". I think I'd have less of a problem with the Gold Line (and the Red Line too...) if it was planned to continue straight to downtown Minneapolis rather than forcing a trans...

Isn't that one of the first (or THE first) Chipotle in Minnesota? I remember it being there in 2000 or 2001, which predates Chipotle's huge expansion into every burb by at least 2 or 3 years I remember going there in '99 -at least in the fall. I also remember the introductory billboard they had abo...

Re: U.S. Highway 52
You saw those too? I also noticed one on the County 9 "suicide" exit. Maybe they are adding them to all the exits going forward.
I wonder if they'll ever raise the limit from 65 to 70 as freeway portions are completed?

Re: U.S. Highway 14
Update: an interchange is going to happen. Minnesota is unique that local municipalities get veto power over highway projects (on non interstates it is absolute, on interstates it can go to binding arbitration), and Nicollet wanted an interchange so they get it (just like Oak Park Heights wanted st...

^^^Wait till some driver decides to challenge the speed limit in court rather than pay a speeding ticket. They may have done a new speed study since then, not sure. Knowing Rochester, they probably had three squad cars enforcing the new limit during any new study to make sure they got the wanted re...

One more - the three story block kiddie corner from Sterb's. But that's it. Everything from Oak to Huron (except S&H) can goSV historic district: Just the Sterb's building.

Re: Stadium Village Tower
I'm kind of surprised that they're looking at tearing down this building before getting rid of the strip mall at the end of Washington. I kinda figured there'd be redevelopment of some smaller buildings on Washington, but that strip mall is so out of place and the stores seem to rotate in and out o...

They could also just "Pull a Rochester" 7th Street NE from West River Road to 11th Ave NE is an undivided, 4 lane street traveling through a park. In the late 90's, a new super playground was built on the south side of the road, and the city decided the 40 mph limit was too high. MnDOT cam...

Re: Kellogg Boulevard-Third Street Bridge
I wouldn't be so sure. The exit that was built does some strange things - it gets noticeably wider at the "bottom" of the ramp before it turns north. Also, the north - south portion is definitely wide enough for two way traffic - I think it even is from East 7th to underneath I-94, with a ...

Re: Kellogg Boulevard-Third Street Bridge
If they're replacing it, hopefully someone is smart enough to plan for a connection with the "Kittson Extension" - make the exit ramp from US 52 into a T intersection with the option to go left up and around to East 7th, and right to Kellogg Blvd. A future extension south over the rail wye...

Re: West Broadway Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
For that matter, how about running the streetcar Broadway > Bottineau > 36th to a 36th Ave LRT station. Possibly extended to Hwy 100 in the future. Would be nice to clean up the freeway-style interchange at Broadway / Lowry / Theo Wirth as well (giant roundabout?).

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
How much of Central Corridor's budget actually went to rebuilding a street that desperately needed to be rebuilt anyways? That was one thing that always angered me about the "Light rail construction killing business" - they rebuilt a road that needed to be rebuilt, and while they were at i...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I think the issue is where the line turns south in Hopkins - there are a lot of industrial warehouses & related businesses that seem to be in the way. Why they didn't plan on simply using 11th Ave...? I started wondering the same today. I think we have to assume that it was looked at in one way...

Can someone explain this line from the update: "99 additional business relocations (from 47 to 146)" We are relocating 150 businesses?!?!?!?!? I second this. This is the first I've actually heard of business relocation happening. 150 is a pretty big number in this context. Is that mostly ...
