Finding/Exploring COW Packets
Does anyone have any suggestions on locating COW development packets on minneapolismn.gov? Thanks!

Re: Seven Points Uptown (Calhoun Square)
It also seems like a lot of additional retail space for a property management company that hold on to a tenant for any significant amount of time, which they richly deserve after their actions tearing down the Winston Smith memorial.

Re: Seven Points Uptown (Calhoun Square)
i can't believe they'd get rid of the pedestrian street like this. those precious few blocks were the only enclave pedestrians had away from cars in the entire vicinity.

Must be a good developer then. They designed, sold, and built a building that looks exactly like a bottom line. The city got gooped on this one.

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
Nothing says 'gateway to Minneapolis' like the royal bank of canada. Agreed that the signage it is small now that it is up, but no doubt they will light the sign to really make it pop. For me it cheapens the experience of the building and skyline. I thought Minneapolis had some sort of ban on this--...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
My personal preference on building design is for one strong design idea or concept to shine through, but this building just reads as incredibly vernacular to me. Doubly so if they go through with plastering that RBC logo on top, which some of the renderings had. At street level, it is totally clear ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Does anyone happen to know the rationale for making the one-lane Bryant Ave NB to 46th and SB to 46th? I love the Bryant concept overall with the raised protected bikeway, reduced parking, pinched intersection crossings, and new boulevards, but I don't know why they'd choose a two-directional one wa...

Usually 5 stories max of wood framing for this type of construction. Based on the exterior elevations and where the building steps back for the playgrounds, it looks like they would construct a 3-level concrete podium, with 5 levels of wood framing above. There's also 3 levels of above ground parkin...

Haha, yes. The proportions of the butter building are off! They need to raise the height of the awnings, or something, over the first level windows. Something about the corner feels too stark every time I see it.

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)
The construction schedule could be held up by the wood stud panel deliveries. It's a busy construction season, so projects at the end of the queue for fabrication may have to wait for other projects to finish before theirs get delivery. I don't know for sure, but something similar may have happened ...

New Heritage Preservation Comimission signs have been posted around the GM property recently declaring a public hearing for a new 32-story residential building and a 6-story mixed use building at the 311 2nd St SE property. It calls for 763 units and 4,300 SF of commercial. Meeting on Jan 22, 4:30PM.

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
Turns out the ballots were misprinted, but that makes little difference I suppose. I received the name change report from the neighborhood board coordinator and South Uptown is it. There are some interesting results from the couple surveys that were taken, and yes, only South Uptown and Bryant Squar...

Re: Southside - General Topics
The ballots read Uptown South, but I'm not sure if that really makes a difference for me. I was pulling for Lakewood or Bryant Square, but a-well! I mean CARAG was as least distinctive if not odd. That said, I'm down for this new soup restaurant--right in season too!

Re: Southside - General Topics
The results of a vote at the Annual CARAG Neighborhood meeting were to officially change its name to "Uptown South." As I understand it, the City still needs to approve the change, but since Bender and Frey both spoke at the meeting, it should be a go.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I find the news about Heyday disappointing, but understand how they felt the need for a refresh--it was always empty in there despite the level of food and service we receieved. For my partner and me, it's always been one of our neighborhood favorites and we even rented out the space for our wedding...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
The concrete should be okay with the etching, as the depth of the etching is so minimal. That said, the concrete is a downgrade from pavers, plain and simple. Pavers tend to last way longer, and can be easily repaired to look new. Question: Not if, but when, future upgrades to underground utilities ...

Re: Road Crime
Quick question: I've read a few stories this year harping on the fact that Minnesotans are terrible at using the full length of the extra lane during a merging scenario and that utilizing the full capacity of the extra lane greatly increases the capacity of the road and reduces travel times. Could/s...

I'm glad that the public is getting a chance to use these pavers, but this just seems ... unofficial. Thought it would look something more like this: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/publicwork ... icks_index. Any news on that quote--what did it come in at?

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
There are a few ice cream shows around. Sonny's Ice Cream on 34th/Lyndale, Sebastian Joe's on Franklin/Hennepin, and Milkjam on 28th/Lyndale. Still, these might be considered 'greater uptown' or something rather than uptown proper--just throwing 'em out there cause they're only a short walk away.
