Re: Green Line (Central)
One of the first steps in building the LRT on 5th was "utilities relocation". With that step already complete, maybe it would be easier to cut 5th street open and build the tunnel there.

Re: Shakopee Rail?
I'm looking at this line, and it mostly looks fine (could even connect to New Ulm). However, for a short period it goes _through_ Shakopee, rather then around it like most rail corridors. I can't see this line being practical without a bypass, and setting a precedent by building one bypass will caus...

Re: Upper Post at Fort Snelling
To what end? Most of it is untaxable, government owned. I reject having my taxes increased to pay for services to an area of no financial benefit to the city.

Re: Peavey Plaza reconstruction project
Sure it can be solved. 1) Open a public, internet-only "library". Nothing but rows and rows of computers free to use all day, in a nice metal shed hidden away from the well-to-do. Cut down on the mass of access at Central. 2) Start charging for computer access at the Central Library. 3) En...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
I'd rather see a linear park/trail connecting the neighborhood to the river, with smaller lot "bumpouts". Too much of the area is superblock/walls.

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)
With the number of users of Main Street and the Stone Arch Bridge, and the number of users of East River Road, I can't help but think that connecting the two would be a major bonus to both segments. Especially if facilitated by decent exposure/access by adjacent development (unlike this design), and...

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)
I think this project needs something other that a retaining wall and a set of windows addressing 2nd Street SE. There's huge potential there, if/when East River Road is finally connected through to Main Street.

Re: Why not Monorail? and transit / Elephant accidents.
Any loop that would connect Target Field, the Convention Center, Metrodome, Guthrie/Mill District, and Warehouse District would miss the main points of where circulation is needed (CBD), and would be too long to be a one-way circle.

We're going to avoid Nazi connotations by naming it after Charles Lindbergh?

One more fantasy change: add the #9 bridge bikeway connection to the currently walled tunnel under 35W. We paid for it, Mill District is lively enough to need it, open the damn thing up already!

Re: Downtown Post Office
So, if all we need is an access point for trucks to enter the post office on a thru course, and not a full parking ramp, couldn't a structure replace the existing parking ramp that would unobstructively perform the same function?

Re: More light rail stops
There is a crosstown bus at 42nd and Hiawatha, but its the same one as 46th and Hiawatha (the 46), since 46th street doesn't bridge over Lake Hiawatha. (I just really wanted to say 46 and Hiawatha as many times as possible). I'd support the additional stations under only one request: that they are k...

But how can all this optimism be true? Won't Obama wreck the economy with his taxes on the job creators and the dead? The fiscal cliff, sequester, TARP and stimulus will end us all? Won't an all-DFL St. Paul start a massive capital migration to Sioux Falls?

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
I would color or highlight the blueline track between the two airport terminals, since they are highlighted on other maps.
It seem odd not to include some mention of the Northstar Commuter Rail.
Also odd/unhelpful that while the St. Paul airport in included, the Amtrack Terminal is not.

Does anyone have a rendering of the proposed Twins Stadium on the Mississippi River, about where the Guthrie/Gold Medal Park are now?
