Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 18-20 stories
It's difficult to tell the amount of space between the tower and the 2 story piece at the intersection but a skinny 5 portion would do a lot to cap the block

I'd love if the consequence was getting a new office tower. Convert four old buildings, create demand, build a new tower.
Very Sim City. Love it.

Re: Crime
Crowd sourcing your moving fees is a bold move... On one hand - totally get it. Nuisance crime is one thing, dying is another. On the other hand, I still hope this area turns around. Broadway has decent bones and opportunity is gradually increasing in the neighborhood.

Re: 501 7th St S
He just mentioned it offhand after the meeting, so I don't know any details, but apparently it was a very short presentation, with the committee pretty bluntly saying that it wasn't good enough. No idea whether the concern is that it's ugly, that it's not dense enough, that it shouldn't have a surf...

Could you elaborate?
Also, one of the committee members went to the CoW meeting, and apparently they got pretty much laughed out of the room, so there's probably some changes incoming.

By the time this finishes, the Minneapolis minimum will likely be $15/hr. At that wage, assuming 40 hours a week for 4 weeks a month, 30% of that persons income is $720. Were you assuming state minimum wage?
[/quote]
Ahh good point. Yeah, I was thinking state $7.87.

Fun chart demonstrating what different du/ac look like. To help clarify, the #3 Arena Crossing is a 5-over-1 development at 126 DU/AC. So 100 DU/AC is 4 story stick approximately. That's decent.

And the construction crews they line up jump off when there are significant delays like this and now have to be re-coordinated and organized. Timing is a huge deal. Not likely - drawings and permits will take months for this. Permits alone will take 3-4 months probably.

BEGGING for this next one not to have a giant ugly parking podium. BEGGING.This officially opened today.
And, right on cue, Opus acquired the remaining portion of the block, so plans must be moving along for it.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The high parking numbers always make me think "parking podium" which usually means architectural disaster. If they are underground and underutilized I couldn't care less.
