Re: West Lake Street Hotel- 3012 Excelsior Blvd (8 stories, 100')

Visiting locals is obviously different, but the idea being promoted is that people would want to "vacation" in Uptown on a random weekend. I feel like there are a lot of urban minded people that like the choice. It always feels like the options are exactly downtown or suburban nowhere. Se...

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S (187' - 17 Stories)

200 units (53%) sold. Not bad for still under construction. Demonstrates the strong demand for condos downtown. Of course, in a few years some of those units won’t have the same view. I feel like a developer that could get units down to a starting price point between 250-300k would sell out at a ri...

I'll just keep hoping that someday the northern portion of the parking lot is sold for redevelopment... One can dream.

Re: Alatus Residential Project - 228 South 12th Street (31 stories - ~350'/415')

They presented to the DMNA tonight. Same images as Grant posted above. One fun tidbit - they're apparently strongly considering having the big glass panel at the top being a video display like Target Plaza. Thats so tacky. Fast forward 2 months and it'll be used to advertise anything and everything...

The Green Line usage at Stadium Village station would get a huge bump from this.

Re: Vicinity - 205 Park Avenue (Mill District Ramp Parcel)

Maybe this is rather mundane but their site plan is perfect. It should be exactly what the city is encouraging in my opinion. Major corner commercial space. Active use on all sides that face public right of way. Walk out units. Covers ugly parking garage face. 10/10

Re: Smaller Scale Multi-Family Infill

We're running out of places to live and GoGophers rentals have been building on like mad. My aversion is not to its existence but the non-continuous roofline. It just looks rough. Obviously they wanted something bigger than the existing second story, but I feel like they should have built it as its...

Re: Smaller Scale Multi-Family Infill

So I think this vaguely falls into this category. A friend from undergrad sent me these photos of the house I lived when I was at the U. Address 959 17th Av SE if you want to see it without the addition. I mean this is definitely incremental density but its also.... super weird? Why even attach the ...

Re: Downtown Hotel News

Challenging location with the folks lining up there for the shelter/kitchen. My thoughts exactly... and honestly I believe what has prevented this from being redeveloped sooner. This location seems to have much more problems than any of the other downtown service providers that help this population.

Minneapolis is 15th densest, while St Paul is 21st.
The growth for Minneapolis/St Paul looks great. Milwaukee, (our peer city?) on the other hand took a nose dive :(

Maybe its just me but I think of roundabouts, atleast in the way Americans typically build them, as just so NOT urban. They suck for pedestrians and take up a lot of space.

Re: Fergus Falls Kirkbride Building Impending Demolition

Hello, everybody -- I'm a longtime reader of this forum but I've never taken the plunge to register and comment before now. I just wanted to let people know that the Fergus Falls City Council voted on Monday to begin demolition of that city's Kirkbride complex, the former Regional Treatment Center,...

I swear if this is like a 3-4 story building I'm gonna be so pissed they didn't just incorporate that into the parking ramp project adjacent to their current building.

Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development Map

Just a general inquiry. If you look at the top 6/7ish threads in the North, Northeast, and Southeast tab, it starts to show that really there seems to be a higher concentration of residential towers, the kind you would expect to see downtown, in these neighborhoods than downtown. Question is, do you...
