Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Agreed. Like you said above, it would be so much easier for customers (especially tourists) to take advantage of a single free service instead of the 18 and 10.True. I guess if we ever get around to a Nicollet Streetcar/aBRT, it'll be a no-brainer to make the downtown portion free.

I wonder if that's in addition to the Nicollet Mall free ride service, or just replacing it, since it's easier to promote that a specifi...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
New renderings of the stations. Also it looks like they may have decided to go with the "bent" alignment for the Knox Ave underpass. Also, there's mention of the downtown stations being "Fare Free." I'm gonna follow up with Christina Morrison to see what exactly that means. https...

Not a fan personally. I got excited to go there many times, but there was always a ridiculously long wait for food that wasn't all that good.Barrio, right?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
So if we want to run at max capacity and retain operational flexibility, we need bi-directional train cars.In Portland they always run as a married pair. They never run single car operations, or for that matter three car operations.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Additionally, Wikipedia says that the S70s used in Portland are single-ended. They're still shaped the same on both ends, but have a curved row of seats instead of a cab at one end. That would work just fine for our system as well. If they need to de-couple a car during service (due to maintenance ...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
SWT is considering alternatives to eliminating route 687 (service from Eden Prairie to Target in Brooklyn Park). They're looking into shortening the route, making additional stops at park-and-rides or other business in the Minnetonka area, or possibly implementing an on-demand service. http://swtran...

Visualization of the upcoming Type III light rail vehicles. Biggest difference is that the seats in the center section will all face each other, increasing capacity. https://i.imgur.com/X2uCcmT.png I've always hated the four-person rows, where you're knocking knees with the person across from you. ...

Agreed. Even on Target Plaza, it took me a few times walking through to realize I was over 394. And that doesn't have much around it.

Re: Minneapolis Armory
After thinking about it, my issue is that it's adding vehicle entrances to 5th St. The biggest impediment to the LRT moving efficiently through downtown is the need to allow for vehicle turning movements across the tracks. (For example, the way westbound trains frequently stop at Marquette to allow...

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus
Looks like the 84 does end at 8:45-9:15 on weekdays and 7:15-7:30 on weekends, that could explain it.Fewer local routes overlapping and filling the frequency gaps?

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus
Yeah, you would think.I would imagine that there are more service workers in the corridor, especially at Rosedale and Harmar. That being said, they should have a reduced frequency on Sunday evenings if that is the case, as many service industries close earlier.

I think Silophant meant turn right from 5th St to go north on Marquette. Why do trains have to stop for cars exiting CP Plaza? You don't cross the tracks from that garage.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Metro Transit is looking to reshuffle Orange Line funding to ensure the ramp from Hwy 65 to 12th Street and the Lake Street station can be constructed. Given the lack of state funding, they want to delay acquiring ROW for the project and put it instead towards helping fund those two parts of the pro...
