Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Figured we should have some sort of thread to discuss the suburban transit agencies (currently AFAIK SouthWest Transit, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, Maple Grove Transit, and Plymouth Metrolink.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I'm thinking it's probably an MTS/First Transit route, but MT can probably give you their contact info. You should report that bus to Metro Transit. The driver can be as careful as he wants, that still isn't safe, and it'd be a huge problem if it were normalized.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Well, in fact, it's exactly like TicketMaster. You can still go to the box office and buy tickets. But they've negotiated an exclusive contract to provide a convenience type service at a highly inflated cost. It seems insignificant because it's just a quarter, but as a percentage of the underlying ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Metro Mobility operators sue First Transit for alleged unpaid wages. According to the operators, the company only pays them for about 10 minutes after finishing their shift, when they have to do maintenance checks, fill out logs, and other stuff that takes much more than that time.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
MnDOT will be replacing the 35W bridge over the Minnesota River between 2020 and 2021. I'm concerned about how this will impact the Orange Line. I remember this year when they were repaving a bridge on 77, the Red Line's frequency was cut from 15 to 30 minutes because there wasn't enough money to ma...

I don't know why people are saying there's a compromise between bikes/odds/greenspace. There will be no reduction in space for peds and there will be a 10% increase in greenspace.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Yes, I understood that to be the plan. As it relates to the pictures Grant posted above, however, I was just wondering if the construction along the street in Grant's 3rd picture reflected stadium construction (by Mortensen) or street construction by the City of Minneapolis (starting to make the ch...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Liking the mysterious energy crystals in the back, hope we get some more. From the U.S. Bank Stadium Update - October 7, 2015 (http://www.usbankstadium.com/u-s-bank-stadium-update-october-7-2015/), its called a "monument sign". As stated: The first large, 30 foot high “monument sign,” whi...

Re: 7th Street Transit "Advantage" Bus Stops
Emailed the City, who put me in contact with MT. Apparently, the shelters are just now being fabricated and will be ready for installation in December.
Gotta say, though, I was impressed how quickly everyone got back to me.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I was on a walk and talk with Bike/Ped Coordinator Matt and he explained some of the issues there. The reason they're not willing to go below 5 lanes is because they're convinced cars will back up across the LRT tracks during rush hours. Assuming that 5 lanes is a requirement, there's no space for a...

As much as I don't like Excalibur, it'd be sad to see it replaced with a parking lot.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I've heard from reliable sources that the Nicollet Buses will be moving to Marq2 next year. I don't know if it'll be the bus or general purpose though.
Like was said before, we need a protected a N/S protected bikeway in the heart of Downtown. It's not just something that's "nice".

Re: Cedar - Franklin - Minnehaha Intersection
When I look at this plan, I see "They're going to close Minnehaha Avenue for a Taco Bell!". Almost as ridiculous as "They're going to close Nicollet Avenue for a K-Mart!". Like Peter said, that's not reality. They're closing Minnehaha because it that little section makes the int...

I'd say the closest we have is Riverton Community Housing Coop, and look at these prices in their new building in Dinkytown: http://www.riverton.org/sites/default/files/Fourth%20Street%20Rents.pdf Wow. I live in a 350sq ft studio in the Theater District and pay $800/month. Their lowest end studios ...

Re: Improving Metro Transit's urban bus service
Just call them their current route numbers. Install TVMs today, and as streets are reconstructed or development occurs build new platforms. Use existing buses with card readers installed in the back and just start all-door boarding tomorrow (like SF did). Move to quarter mile stop spacing on all ro...
