Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors
And then there's 63rd/Zane, which still baffles me. Though I don't live in the area the current bus route serves so perhaps I'm underestimating its potential. I remember looking at the stats for Route 724 when I used to work for MT, and it was one of the most productive routes they had (in terms of...

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT
On the Rush Line trip to Richmond, VA, a big question came up from a Metro Transit staff person about whether or not an articulated bus can get three doors close enough to the platform to make level boarding functional. It seems that only one of the doors (front or middle) actually needs to be with...

Highway Removal
Can’t believe this isn’t its own topic yet! Check out a great article about a highway removal project in Syracuse, New York. A great overview of racism’s role in building highways, and how tearing them down could repeat the same mistakes if it’s not done right: https://jalopnik.com/the-highway-was-s...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Fun fact: SW Transit is alleging that the Met Council is fudging Metro Transit’s and Maple Grove’s (operated by Metro Transit) efficiency numbers by using different methodologies to calculate them compared to SW, MVTA, and Plymouth. So maybe Maple Grove isn’t as efficient as they think? https://swtr...

Re: Scooter sharing
I like the Lime scooters more than the Birds. They feel more stable and they have an actual speedometer, though they accelerate slower. However, Bird is advantageous in that it lets you lock the scooter for a layover and then continue your trip. That way if I stop into a gas station for a few minute...

Speaking of bus bulbs, when are they going to fix the Nightmare on S 12th St right outside the Convention Center ? There is SO MUCH sidewalk to work with here. I hate that I'm constantly zooming by buses trying pull back into traffic  or getting cut off while they try to get to the curb :o ....

Re: Improving Metro Transit's urban bus service
Off-board fare payment is a huge time-saver, and much more on routes like the 5, 19, and 21 where a lot of customers pay cash. Also, I would imagine they’re not going to be able to give every (or even most of) the bus stops on the 2 bump-outs, probably just a select few. And the extra height from aB...

Fare question: I've become a little unfamiliar with the Metro Transit fare system now that I've moved away. I'm visiting soon, and noticed that there is a fare option for a "weekend pass" for $4, but it is listed under the Mobile Ticket section of the fare page. I was wondering if anyone ...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)
I hope this study shows promise! Something like this should help car traffic to flow a bit better on Hennepin as well, since the right lane backed up from all the busses coming in and out of the lane It will be interesting, if they decide to implement bus-only lanes after the reconstruction, how th...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)
You know how car washes have sensors that alert drivers to back up when you pull in too far? Heavily used crosswalks should get this to buzz at drivers who stop on crosswalk paint. Does the ADA require beg buttons even if the walk light is set to always happen like the vehicle traffic lights always...
