Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Not an engineer. Just a blind guy who travels independently around Minneapolis. My understanding is that the new ramps are meeting the ADA guidance while having the benefit of orienting visually impaired people to the crosswalk. The previous versions were almost certainly a cost saving measure and ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I've never been a fan of the continuous radial ramps. They seem to have a wider more generous radius, and they're an invitation for cars to take corners faster with no consequence of hitting a raised chunk of concrete - the whole benefit of grade-separated sidewalks in the first place. I hope they a...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I sure hope they haven't changed it last minute with no input. The posted layout still shows "BUS ONLY" road markings, so i could be just an oversight and these are still planned to be bus only. But the big text box that reads "ADDITION OF PART-TIME TRANSIT PRIORITY LANE" makes ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Thanks! So I'm not the only one. I emailed the project manager to see what he says. I've recently changed my stance on full time bus lanes and think parking will provide much needed traffic calming, but it's frustrating they can just change last minute and not publicize it.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Have full time bus lanes quietly been removed from the First & Hennepin project? I could have sworn the design layout that was linked on the project site was "2023". Now it's "2024" and the layout shows TRANSIT PRIORITY LANE/PARKING and references part-time transit priority l...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Late to the party but this is great news! It works great in Chicago. Tap to pay with CC initially, but then setup a Ventra account to avoid tons of small transactions. I agree Metro Transit should promote this big time when it goes live - bus wraps, signage at METRO stations, sports arenas, conventi...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
I went to a downtown panel discussion last week that Goodman and Frey spoke at. Among other things one of Goodman's parting desires was to "tear down that damn post office ramp" and Frey echoed it too. I didn't know it was such a priority at the city - good to see.

Aerials for Minneapolis just updated today to ~June 2023. Streetview still mostly '22, but I've seen some '23 roll out in the burbs.

"expressway between 97th and 119th avenues." What's going on with 93rd? Feels like a lot of business there for MnDOT to route traffic to via frontage road.

Very good news! I'm assuming they are working up to a uniform 8 pm close, but to me it's odd they extended the hours Mon-Wed, instead of Friday and Saturday.

Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
Hines hosted a realtor for a construction tour. He claims 354 luxury condo units. I reached out... it's apartments as it's always been. According to him the first 6 floors will be the short term rentals, 18th floor is amenity. 352 are long term and 98 are short term. Expected completion is April 202...

I would shop here regularly when I lived in Uptown '18-'22. It was great. Daily essentials, coffee, bananas, and frozen pizzas a short walk away in a more walkable format than the Cub or Lunds. It was open until 10 pm and 11 pm Saturdays pre Covid & civil unrest. I still stand by my claim that U...

Sherman presented to my building's HOA board. I didn't catch the presentation but meeting minutes were distributed, so take with a grain of salt. Here are the notes: - Three buildings 10-20 stories - 900 units - Retail facing Washington Ave - Possibly starting 2024 - Affordable units at 60-70% AMI -...
