Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
It's unlikely that there's much interest from the really big developers/builders. We're probably not gonna hear about Ryan Companies and Mortenson suddenly building 100 fourplexes across the city. They fry bigger fish. Many other builders are so accustomed to building SFHs, it might take awhile for ...

It's this one, which is not HomeKit compatible out of the box. https://www.chamberlain.com/garage-door-openers/belt-drives/model-wd1000wf But! You're in luck there, though of course, not for free. https://www.chamberlain.com/apple-partnership The idea of spending another $50-70 to add HomeKit bugs m...

Re: Smart Home
Smart home stuff can definitely be a minefield as far as security and sudden inconvenience if the internet is down, but there are some parts of it I genuinely like. I have both a smart thermostat and a garage door opener. Both serve their basic functions just fine without internet. In a 96 year old ...

It looks like a banana with some kind of hammock in it. Which makes it a gigantic banana hammock. Pass.

Re: The economics of housing
"Saccharine nonsense" is in the eye of beholder I suppose, but in our case we 1) made an aggressive offer on a house we really liked and believed was underpriced relative to the current market within a day of when it became available in the hope that the seller would accept before there wa...

Re: The economics of housing
Worked for me (or helped at least). The seller even brought it up at closing and talked about his wife's reaction to it. It might seem cheesy, but why not try to tip the odds ever so slightly in your favor if you can, right?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Moving forward... it sounds like there might be something big planned for the old BZ space. Rick Nelson hinted that it would be a big deal and rumors are swirling. Something from a national brand... any ideas? This is speculative to the point of not even being worthy of the rumors thread, but I won...

Re: Road Crime
I can understand making counts like this, but only an idiot tries to cross Lyndale at 25th. This is all that really matters. I'd cross at 25th every day if it were safe to do so because it's the closest intersection for me to use. But because of the current design I haven't done it once. Instead I ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
When I lived in Velo across the street, this was pretty much every conversation with either my wife's family from rural Minnesota or just about anyone with really limited knowledge of MPLS geography. "So we're kinda looking out on Washington Ave but the building is on First Ave and the entrance...

Re: Target Campus - Brooklyn Park
Isn't most of Targets IT offices at 33 South 6th? Not in Brooklyn Park. Almost all of TTS was moved to BP. I lasted all of like three months before I left pretty much as a result of that. I heard they may have paused some of the moves, but I'm not sure how much. The plan was that all of IT would be...

Re: Target Campus - Brooklyn Park
As someone who left Target IT a little over a year ago, I know that most of the folks they just let go were in roles like business analyst and project manager. Some management layers, too. Though it sucks for those affected, it was a long time coming that there would be a sort of reset and that hiri...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
FWIW, the North Loop Neighborhood Association says the name came from a trolley line that ran in the area. I don't know the history of that and don't really care one way or the other, but it seems there's at least a claim of some historical basis for the name. I can understand the desire to differen...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
Heck, even in 20 years could we see national bike sharing partnerships? For example you purchase your bike sharing city at $50 a month and can select another visiting city for another $20 and another two more cities for $10 each? Since the launch of NiceRide, I've been to Toronto, New York, Chicago...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Heritage charged around $100, IIRC. Pretty sure it was an apartment they just held open for visitors, but I never actually saw it. The one at Copham also served as their show model for prospective renters, which is how I came to see it.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
^ Heritage Landing had a guest suite, too. So does Copham I believe, which is another Greco project like Else and 314 6th. Seems to be a thing of theirs. Didn't end up using it at Heritage, but I thought it was nice that it was there.

Re: Nye's Redevelopment - 100 block of E Hennepin Avenue
Rift Magazine just posted this on Facebook: "Cannot verify, or deny, but it seems that Nye's Polonaise may remain open until January 2016." Anybody hear anything about this? Can't say I'm surprised considering the development is delayed. I was at Nye's yesterday and a waitress said the sa...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Question. Who has heard of StaurtCo before this? Lived in Heritage Landing for a year at 410 N 2nd in the North Loop where StuartCo was the mgmt company. Can't speak to their development savvy, but my experience with them was very good. Heritage is a good building that, style-wise, is dated now but...

Someone must have heard folks grumbling. It may not be much, but there's a sandblasting company doing...something at the site right now.
