Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
haha could you imagine it being called. "Downtown East, US Bank Stadium Station" The train would be closing doors and moving onto the next stop before the name was fully announced. Well maybe not literally but almost.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
at least taxis will be removed from Nicollet Mall so that is something. I assume that includes horse drawn carriages? I remember they used to clog up traffic way too much.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I always thought pavers on the roadway would have been bad for bikes and wouldn't be a good usage of money, but are they really taking out the pavers for the sidewalk too? That would be pretty disappointing. Maybe with the leftover funds they might be able to stencil in a streetcar line this time? Y...

Re: Episcopal Homes Loring Park
Hate to see those trees go but if it's for progress chop em down. Does anybody know what type of trees they are? The ones next to the sidewalk by eastern side between the parking lot and Clifton Place? They seem to branch off right from out of the ground with no big trunk, they look pretty cool. He...

Re: Loring Park Neighborhood
WOW! that paint makes it look better in my opinion. maybe they could get a touch better shade but it's way to dark if it was all just the same color brick! Neat new sign though.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Can they still? Leaving Nicollet in the condition it's in now isn't great, and it would be rough to put the buses back for a year and then redetour them a year later, but it might be worth it to leave it for a year and build it right, rather than push a crappy cut-down version through. Also, that w...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Is anyone really surprised by this? No, I am not at all surprised. They should have broken it up into smaller segments it was to much for one contractor to do everything. Plus having to deal with maintaining one side open for downtown pedestrians at all times only increases complications. Hope they...

I thought it was just going to be an empty grass lot until after the super bowl anyways? Is the grass going to be phased in? I don't get it.

Also they have a bunch of coupons that do help save a few bucks every week. That's also kinda nice too, makes up for the big cost. You're more valuable as a print consumer who looks at print ads rather than a digital consumer who looks at web ads. It's a pretty simple concept, actually.

Re: 100 Hennepin Avenue S
As a native Minnesotan currently living in San Diego, a heading in that Minnpost article drove me crazy: "San Diego: a warm Minneapolis?" San Diego has god-awful urban design, truly terrible. Really makes you appreciate Minneapolis. Checkout these massive curb cuts for apartment parking i...
