Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Wish the Twin Cities had something like this... http://www.chicagoarchitecture.org/ I like this site for being a central site to find/post the latest development news/ images, etc. and to read other's creative ideas about design issues for the cities, but honestly the immaturity and lack of civility...

Re: Bus Stop on 7th Street at Nicollet Mall
I really wish the city would focus on making the east-west streets and sidewalks more pedestrian and transit user friendly. Nicer transit stops, better streescapes, etc.

Haven't they also started replacing the flooring in part of the mall? I think they ripped out the old carpet and replaced it with cool looking flooring...

I honestly forget about this underground parking. I wonder how many other people do as well.

Re: Local Business Recommendations
Can anyone recommend some places to pick up some cool furniture? Maybe some local/second had shops with quality stuff? Been scoping out the chains - CB2, West Elm, Home Goods, Market but open to other suggestions? Looking for a mix of contemporary/vintage pieces. Thanks!

Agree on stations with better protection from the elements. Real time schedules are a must. Also - put the swipe card stations at the entrance to the stations, and more than just one/two as there can be lines that form.

Re: Target Field Station
Anyone have any news about the new retail/restaurant space that was supposed to be added to Target Field Station? I know there is still that tiny empty space by Caribou. Hopefully with the new office buildings going up, this space will become more activated during the day time and evenings.

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Understand the need for parking but why not line the ramp with housing or make it mixed use? At the least, it should blend in more with the look of other warehouses in the area. My biggest pet peeve is having a parking ramp overlooking the park. People want green space in the area. Missed opportunit...

I hope he ups his design for this one. While I love in-fill, not a fan of his buildings - Bridgewater, etc. Too suburban and not pedestrian friendly at all.

I agree - more lively than before. Now I wish City Center would at least follow suit and redo the cladding over its parking deck facing Hennepin.

Oh - I read that Peavey is going to be one of this summer's pop-up parks. Again - why waste money in a temporary fix and not hold off and put the funds towards permanent improvements. Makes me very upset.

Re: Peavey Plaza
Glassy/transparent, well light year round in-door/out door coffee bar/wine bar, etc. with outdoor tables/chairs. I thought Orchestra Hall was going to put in a new restaurant overlooking Peavey? Better walkways, stairs, ramps, etc. More pedestrian friendly, dramatic lighting, and of course, for 3 of...

Re: Brunsfield Place - (915 Washington Avenue North)
This area was screaming for a decent coffee shop, just to hang and relax. The Caribou by Target Field is great, but quite a distance. I see Spyhouse to Mpls. what Intelligentsia is to Chicago. Still wish we'd get a full-scale Intelligentsia here as well.

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
Ok - looked at the proposed design fronting Nicollet again. Lots of glass fronting the Mall, but one entryway? Do these developers NOT read/listen to studies/experts on how to create a successful building design at the street-level in an urban environment? To be successful and to create an exciting ...

Does anyone know if Opitz is taking cues from the Wave in Chicago? I like how the balconies add movement/dimension to what they are proposing. Still hate the "podium" base along Nicollet.
