To me, this goes to show that Minneapolis is starting to transition to more of a form based code. I wish the guidance help more with where parking should be located on the lots. Franklin Avenue is faced by too many parking lots.

Re: Brainstorming: reimagine Franklin Avenue between Hennepin and Bloomington
“Corridor 6 The Corridor 6 district is typically applied along high frequency transit routes as well as in areas near METRO stations. Built Form Guidance: New and remodeled buildings in the Corridor 6 district should reflect a variety of building types on both moderate and large sized lots. Building...

This project is kind of out-of-the-way for me. Does anyone know if it’s now under construction?

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
Ride by this building on the train every week. Here are a few pictures from this morning. The old school building is completely demolished. The land is completely flattened out. Looks like they are ready to start the new building construction. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190607/54909a73d9edd4...

Re: Lowa46 - 46th & Hiawatha Cub Foods Mixed Use
I get it, we're hardcore urbanists, but not every single building has to be multi-story and mixed use, especially when part of a larger vision that does include two apartment buildings and lots of other commercial space. Sure, it would be neat if they put a floor of office space above it, but addin...

That’s awesome, that would be the additional tower just north of the current one near Nicollet Mall, correct?

Should we put the conversation about the blocks to the east of this development into their own thread?

Re: Brainstorming: reimagine Franklin Avenue between Hennepin and Bloomington
I realize that these types of redevelopment take time, but let’s take the time now to think about what we want this area to look like in 20 years.

Re: Brainstorming: reimagine Franklin Avenue between Hennepin and Bloomington
Along with thinking about reimagining Franklin Avenue, here are some screenshots of some places along the Corredor that could be re-developed. It would be really cool to see a form based overlay District along Franklin Avenue. This type of overlay District, or zone, depending on how you look at it, ...

Brainstorming: reimagine Franklin Avenue between Hennepin and Bloomington
I have been reading a lot about the use and implementation of form based code. Within these readings, I picked up information about different Corredor projects. Franklin Avenue is definitely an urban corridor. If my understanding is correct, Franklin Avenue is also a county or state road. This means...

Interesting, I wonder what this means for the redevelopment. Wasn’t there some kind of civil action going before the courts related to this project? It had something to do with blocking the view from the witches hat.

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
Not saying that this is what it will end up being, but a strip of marking on concrete indicating it as a bicycle/pedestrian trail, does not count. You’re still having to go through the same old parking lot.

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
Still don’t like it. I get that they’re trying to transform Southdale, but there’s absolutely no reason for the library to be at the back of the parking lot. The bike and pedestrian connection is great, but I have no guarantee as to what form it will take. I think they’re making a huge mistake in no...

Re: Ford Site Redevelopment
I’m very excited about the redevelopment of the Ford site, but I have a question to pose to people on the Fourm. Do others think the Ford site would’ve been a great testing ground for a true form based code? I’m talking about a code that focuses on building a form first, and specific uses second? Th...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
My opinion: totally understand not having much sympathy. This group of people has been trying to stop the project from the very beginning. I feel like the project has made some compromises in their favor; the shallow tunnel that will keep trains running basically underground. Sent from my iPhone usi...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Did not know that about the greenline not receiving its funding until two years after construction started. It sounds like starting construction before full funding is in place is standard practice. So a petition was sent to the governor, what’s next? When are the trees actually supposed to be remov...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
What are the chances the tree cutting in the Kenilworth Corridor is delayed? A petition with 2,900 signatures was delivered to Walz’s office asking to delay the tree cutting until funding is 100% certain (even though at this point it’s very near certain we’ll get the funding). Near certainty is gre...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I can actually respect that. Why is the funding not 100% yet? I would favor not cutting trees until we have the written agreement from the FTA. Why have we not gotten the 100% guarantee?
