France Ave. would be a perfect place for a multimodal multiway boulevard.Maybe they want even wider roads in the future. Probably nothing good like a multimodal multiway boulevard though.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
Yeah, neither do any countries, states, or cities! It’s a big problem.

Re: Blake Road Corridor
Oh, maybe the article is wrong. It says “The lanes will be narrowed slightly from 11 to 10.8 feet” and that’s what didn’t sound like much to me. What you describe is *much* better.
Oh, and when I said “In the US”, I meant to say “In US suburbs…”.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Very disappointing that St. Louis Park’s “bike infrastructure” along Wooddale Ave. north of 44th Street is just sharrows. Also, sharrows along 38th St. west of France. Sharrows. In 2018. Along Monterey north of Excelsior Blvd. (think Trader Joe’s), they are thankfully reducing the roadway from 4 lan...

Re: Blake Road Corridor
That looks great, especially the separated trail. In the US, we seem willing only to have mixed use trails, rather than dedicated bikeways. I wonder if this is a temporary step on the way to doing it right, with motorists having to sacrifice more space? That doesn’t seem like much of a lane narrowin...

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
As cars get better mileage and go electric, the gas tax becomes more irrelevant, while the vehicle sales tax remains so that’s good. As cars-as-a-service becomes important, though, even the vehicle sales tax will eventually become irrelevant. Yes, we do need transit-specific taxes, and taxes to pay ...

Re: Grandview District - Edina
The redevelopment will be nice, but I’d like to think we’re in a post-drive-thru world. And so much parking. As you say, that’s a ton of cars going in & out. Granted, much of it will be cars going east/south on Interlachen in the morning, commuting to Hwy 100, so they’ll be making right-hand tur...

Yeah, I need to find out why the Southdale District Task Force is pushing for those large setbacks. I don’t understand that.

Those free-rights on the roundabouts seem to be bringing along the worst of conventional layout to roundabouts which I thought were about slowing traffic down. Will those crosswalks be terrifying?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Yeah, I guess I'm surprised that they think there will be that much parking demand for the game. Nobody staying at the downtown hotels will need parking; presumably all of the outlying hotels will be running shuttles. They've set up the Blue Line and Green Line to offer pre-screened express service...

Oh, I was talking more about what you termed the “sad sidewalk” and speeding, merging cars than I was about the wall.
Since the city does want to remove the free-right soon, then that whole area would need to be re-landscaped, anyway. Probably just conserving tax dollars.

Policies, procedures, & workflows
(I have a specific question, but figured I’d create a general thread title to eventually cover similar things.) In 2018, what do most governments, commissions, committees, etc. do for downloadable documents, in terms of format? If a developer submits a proposal, for example, or a consulting company ...

Re: Grandview District - Edina
There will be such rage coming to the open house, if Parkwood Knolls Nextdoor is any gauge. Grandview has been studied and battled for at least a decade. The neighborhood & city came to a compromise such that there still isn’t a small area plan, even with a decade of study, but there is instead...
