Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Can the Trump administration take away the federal funding for Southwest LRT? And Bottineau? What are the chances that this happens?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Full Alignment Contracting Open House Presentation Oof. The walkability of the station areas is approaching zero. This is the opposite of the Central Corridor. My grades for each station: Southwest Station- C- Does there really need to be another parking ramp? EP Town Center- C+ Seems to be kind of...

http://www.startribune.com/high-speed-rail-between-cities-and-rochester-draws-jeers-cheers/405712276/ So as time goes by the more I think that this plan for privately funded HSR isn't legit and won't happen, or I'm just impatient. At the same time though, this "concerned" group doesn't see...

Re: Highway Transitway Corridor Study
Realistically when could Highway 169 BRT be in operation? I think it would be better to move the station from Old Shakopee Road to Pioneer Trail and/or Anderson Lakes Parkway. Anderson Lakes Parkway already has a park & ride for SW Transit, and these areas are more developed than the Old Shakope...

Re: Arterial Transit Corridor Study ("rapid bus")
There has to be a way to speed this up. I thought the original plan was opening one ABRT route every year.

Re: Twin Cities Underground Rail
Is ABRT supposed to replace the idea of underground rail, or is it an interim solution to the busy urban routes while underground rail (or elevated rail) is a concept to be looked in the next few decades? The Orange Line eliminates the idea of underground rail on Nicollet, and streetcar/ABRT on Nico...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Route 638 begins next Monday. Service is Monday-Friday, mostly being hourly frequency from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Hope this works out better than their first attempt at local bus service in Eden Prairie.

Southwest Transit will be starting a new local route, Route 638, between Southwest Station, Eden Prairie Center, Amazon in Shakopee, and Marshall Road Transit Station.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
So how exactly are they going to fill more seats on the trains? The best average weekday ridership the Northstar ever achieved was 3,100 before the polar vortex and BNSF traffic ruined the reliability and it went back to square one. There is no way Northstar could ever get the riders required for fe...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Probably best to go with ABRT and have a feeder service between Forest Lake and White Bear Lake. Same projected ridership as dedicated BRT but costs a lot less. Assuming the next few ABRT routes have success like the A Line then it will be a proven transit mode in our region.

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan
I think if discussions want to be had about pie in the sky ideas - or unrealistic options - they belong elsewhere. I'm not opposed to having a forward thinking discussion - but it's tough to intermix the two. MOA owns the property to the east of the parking ramp, again. So I don't think any transit...

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan
To bring my comment back to the actual Mall transit station, I always thought they should parallel 82nd street after the park-and-ride and bring the train in under 24th to a station platform that is perpendicular to the current platform. This would eliminate 2 90 degree turns and the at-grade cross...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Awhile ago I saw an ad on a MVTA bus with a green circle around a MVTA bus and a red circle with a cross through a Metro Transit bus. MVTA had students from Burnsville High School (I believe) make ads promoting MVTA and public transit in general and this was one of them. I told MVTA to remove that p...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
This is probably an odd request, but since Metro Transit is replacing the old bus stop signs is there a way to get one? Metro Transit's social media person wasn't very helpful, only saying that they get recycled. Is there someone I can contact or do I just have to drive around, find a crew replacing...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
SouthWest Transit is suspending its service to Target's Brooklyn Park Campus. It's seen consistently low ridership, even with increased trips, and has a subsidy above the Met Council's limit for an express route. Also, route 495 (Shakopee to MOA) had more ridership in its first 10 days (957) than r...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
The Red Line is never going to stop at MOA and continue onward. Not going to happen. I'll bet you anything that a through-routed Red Line, even with all the delays around MoA and even with hold time for transfers, would still be significantly faster than transferring to the Blue Line, waiting five ...
