Re: Eleven - 1111 West River Parkway - 41 stories / 550'

I guessing since this is technically in downtown that means the title of tallest building outside of Downtown Minneapolis still belongs to Cedar-Riverside?

Re: Highway Transitway Corridor Study

Scenario 2 is the best to me, though I prefer BRT being routed on 35W North and have an online station at University/4th like Trademark mentioned. Considering how liberal our region is with using the term BRT, I'm skeptical this would be anything close to actual BRT instead of something like the Red...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

There might be a few spots where the right-of-way is tight, but you would think a trail paralleling Highway 55 could easily be built and thread all the disjointed sidewalks and crosswalks together. Obviously it wouldn't be the most pleasant place to bike or walk, but it's still a massive improvement...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

I'm disappointed but not surprised that traffic planners think it's fine to have sidewalks that literally don't go anywhere, which is the case at the Highway 55 & I-494 interchange in Plymouth where a woman in a wheelchair was fatally struck by a semi on Monday. Not that I'm saying connected sidewal...

Re: Northern Lights Express

When I worked at Metro Transit I found a study of a Northstar "extension" to Bethel that I believe would use the existing rolling stock. I assume it was intended to be a branch line of the Northstar with a few peak hour in peak direction trips between Bethel and Target Field Station.

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics

Didn't take long for people to comment on a Facebook group that it'll probably be turned into apartments, because heaven forbid we build more housing when it's sorely needed.

Since it's pretty much confirmed that the building won't be torn down, what new use could they put in there?

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I highly doubt the grade-separation will do much to "relieve congestion" on that segment considering the light amount of car traffic, especially now with the pandemic killing off a lot of the bus and park & ride traffic, but it'll definitely be much safer than the current at-grade railroad crossing.

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)

I was surprised that this project is still anticipated to be completed in 2024, and while I still don't totally believe that they'll make that, Ethan Osten told me on Twitter that they are at 60% engineering, so they should speed through that stage and be ready for construction next year. On anothe...

Will this finally be the one that breaks ground, or will it be like the other proposals and quietly get cancelled?

What's the place that's already under construction in that area? I looked on the Eden Prairie website but couldn't find anything.

Bro, none of us are in charge of this project or actually working on it. I'll focus on making suggestions for things that might actually happen, while you do what you do with 90% of your posts, which is to live in a fantasy train brain world where budgetary constraints don't exist. At any rate, the...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Yeah let's just keep moving the goal posts so an underground alignment through North Minneapolis looks like a crazy and impossible fantasy. Regarding the airport, they could've routed the Blue Line around it along Highway 5 and had a station indirectly serving the terminal with a people mover...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Not that it matters but the tunnel is not in Kenwood, nor is it adjacent to the most wealthy/valuable homes on the line-- not even close. They were seriously considering a tunnel under the Cedar Lake Canal or a second tunnel, both of which would've been in Kenwood. While the under construction tunn...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

The southbound platform at Knox & American is taking shape, as well as the northbound and southbound platforms at South Bloomington TC. It also looks like they'll begin building the trail along the east frontage road soon. Even though it's longer, if I ever bike to the Orange Line I'll probably take...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Why is it that with all the space available between the Bryn Mawr Station and just west of I-94 they insisted on having the light rail tracks right next to the BNSF tracks? Seems like they could've saved some money and headache having the light rail tracks further away from the freight tracks in th...
