Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Was Uptown a retail destination pre-2000? I lived on the southside (Phillips) in the late 90s, but was quite young and don't remember much about the business mix. I remember that Chino Latino, McDonald's, and Victoria Secret were there at the time. In any case, my perception is that perhaps the dem...

Re: O'Gara's Development - 164 Snelling Ave N
I like your enthusiasm, but think it is a long ways off before this would be a neighborhood of choice for a car-free household. The majority of these apartments will be market rate, and those tenants will probably want a parking space. It is tough to park in this neighborhood already. Parking enforc...

"When do the baby boomers really start dying in droves? Probably after 2020?"
Ouch! Do you think this advances discussion in a productive way? Could you phrase this any better? Was this a joke?

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
I can't imagine Nordstrom opening a third location, especially since MOA is so close to Southdale. Neiman Marcus is in trouble; not super likely they will return to Minnesota, especially so soon. Bloomingdales didn't resonate with Twin Cities shoppers, and also wasn't supported the way it could have...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
Where are you getting the information that these are $5 million dollar residences? Related, what in your view is the threshold pricepoint for luxury, ultra-luxury, etc.?

Ditto this: I really don't buy the "we pitched too many sites" critique though, or understand why it comes up so often

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I'm not "luxury" by a long shot but two parking spaces would be a baseline requirement for me. We have work cars and a weekend vehicle. Even in a utopia of walkability I still will need to drive for a significant portion of work and leisure. I'm not overestimating...this is what it is.

@ $1,500 per month. I know acorns grow into mighty oaks, but it's tough getting too excited about this.
