Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Then those structures should have been made a permanent part of the facility. This thing wasn't designed and built 20 years ago, before the fear of those threats became widespread. They shouldn't need to erect two miles of chain link fence to effect pedestrian traffic flow or limit gate access. They...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Never saw a game at the Humpty Dome. Were the miles of chain link fence and the temporary security tents a part of that game day experience too? Seems to me that security and crowd access and flow could (should) have been an integral part of the design of the plaza, the gates and the walks. The plac...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

What are the laws concerning alcohol in the Commons? Anything against drinking in public? Drinking in city parks? Rules against glass bottles? Etc.

Would this be an appropriate place for fans to gather with adult beverages prior to a Vikings game?

Anyone know how many seats they're selling for the Luke Bryan concert and the Metallica concert?

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

This was late on Sunday. I guess it's possible that I misinterpreted and they were pulling it up and not putting it down... Looking at the indoor camera at http://www.earthcam.net/projects/minnesotavikings/rwd/rwd.php?cam=gx10&mode=pano It looks like they picked up much of the floor on Friday e...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

I noticed when I was finishing up my tour that they had a crew starting to lay down the interlocking floor grid over the turf, which surprised me because I thought the next event in the space was going to be the soccer match. Perhaps there's still some finishing work that will require them to be dr...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Hiawatha, I don't think "venue" means what you think it means. But I get what you're saying. I wonder how the football season will affect what events they'll be willing to schedule in the stadium from August through January. They can do some amazing things in rearranging the floor and play...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

The seats I found were a little snug for my large frame, but they do their job. I also happened to like how they're not bolted to the bowl, but through steel rails. Still they make me wonder how they'll fare when 70,000 seats are needed for Super Bowl LII. I'm not sure what there is to like about t...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

I was watching the live cam earlier. Looked like a massive clusterfuck outside. Is that what it's going to be like for game days??

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Maybe it was just the wind. They seem to have some issues with the wind. Six to eight weeks to replace the pane of glass? I understand that the glass is custom made, but I would hope to god that not every single pane is different. They better lay in a supply of glass, because this is going to happen...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

I'm not from the area, but looking at the cameras, I see exactly one apartment building that's directly on the park. The new one just constructed. So any dog owners beside those residents have to walk their dogs to the park anyway. Or am I mistaken?

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

Unfortunately, the relief area isn't of much use since its across the park from all the residences. The downtown and Elliott Park neighborhoods are working to try to get that changed in a later phase of the project.
So it's another 30 or 40 yards to walk? What?

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

Looking at the construction cameras, I see a circular walk round the center green (for folks who like to walk in circles, I guess), and then around that a lot of trees and brown colored ground. What is that material? Some kind of aggregate paving, gravel, sand, or ... ?

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

This is at least the second time it's happened. I foresee a project next summer of replacing all the cladding. Maybe they'll pick a different color.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Oh. So all the fences are down, but I guess they're still kicking people off the property? I was just asked to leave a second ago, but I still got some good photos. Why does that surprise you? There's still a lot of construction going on. I imagine the fences came down in conjunction with them slap...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

At least we didn't tunnel it, putting an end to any chance for a transit tunnel ever. That may have been a consideration, but a skyway to a 60,000+ capacity football stadium makes no sense to begin with. I couldn't agree more with the comments above. The overall effect of everything out front is hu...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Are there many other skyways this long? IMO, the thing is just plain fugly.

And my understanding is that it will only be for "VIP" access to the stadium, whatever that means. I'm guessing it means whoever gets a game-day parking pass at the parking ramp.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

The soccer tickets are pretty pricey, but not as much as Metallica. Somehow resale tickets to Metallica start around $150, which is nuts for such a big venue and over-the-hill band. Geezer rock is big money these days. People easing into their golden years with little to do with their disposable in...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

They've been testing that sail video screen for weeks. Anti-smoking ads, seatbelt ads, stars and stripes waving in the breeze (which is actually pretty cool). I tell you, though, if I worked near there and had to see that thing out my window, it would drive me nuts. Hopefully it's just the testing a...
